The Hoop Group gets all the credit but Jared actually first approached Kaitlyn at the vaunted Empire Invitational hosted by close friend of the couple, Pat Lawless. Jared was there recruiting two players for Columbia….that would ultimately commit to Penn and Yale…

A few weeks later Steve Keller’s annual Super Bowl Party brought Jared and Kaitlyn together again. After many failed attempts to get Kaitlyn on a formal “date” following that night, she finally obliged. Jared chose an escape room; but judging by Kaitlyn sitting as close to the door as possible in the car ride there, the date was the only thing she planned on escaping…

Fortunately for Jared the couple couldn’t escape the room, or one another. Late nights at the Neptune Applebees turned into early mornings running in Central Park. All the while Jared hoped that Kaitlyn would soon muster the courage and feel it was worthwhile to tell her brother Dave about their relationship. While it took her some time to build up the courage and make sure it was worth it, she finally did! Jared formally asked Dave to date Kaitlyn in the Spring of 2018 and on April 14, 2018 the couple made if official!

In March of 2020 what was supposed to be a weekend in NJ for the couple turned into 3 months of living together in lockdown in Bradley Beach. During that time Jared was presented with a life changing opportunity to coach at Air Force and he knew he couldn’t do it without Kaitlyn. By November of 2020 the couple was living together in Colorado Springs and in May of 2022, Jared proposed to Kaitlyn on the corner of the street of the apartment she lived in when they first started dating. With her best friend and Maid of Honor Rachel Rivera by her side.
