Yes, you read that right - we’re having our own personal Midwest MET Gala! We want you to do your very best to try and out-dress the bride and the groom with only one rule… don’t wear all white.

We know this may sound intimidating at first, which is why we wanted to give you a few months to prepare!

Avant-Garde is a wild, fun, out-of-the-box runway style that allows for everyone to have fun with self expression. A good example of this is the MET Gala. This is an event that happens every year where celebrities take to the red carpet wearing the craziest, most extravagant, luxurious outfits you can imagine. That being said, these looks can include (but are not limited to): Capes, Headdresses, Feathers, Fur, Rhinestones, Excessive jewelry, Angel wings, Larger than life hair and makeup, Large brimmed hats, Hair accessories and more!

With that being said, we do not expect you to spend hundreds of dollars on an outfit if you don’t want to. If you want to - go RIGHT AHEAD! There is no ceiling for how extravagant you want to be. But on the other hand, extravagant doesn’t always have to equal expensive! Online sites like Etsy, Fashion Nova, or Amazon can help you to find jewelry, outfit pieces, or accessories for cheaper prices while still being over the top. You can even style an outfit you already own by adding some extravagant hair and makeup!

Looks can range from royal, high-class elegance all the way to over the top, alien-like attire. We want to see what you’ve got. If there’s ever an outfit you’ve imagined wearing to a red carpet, now is the time!

If you are having any trouble coming up with ideas, google “The MET Gala”, “Avant-Garde Red Carpet Looks”, or “High fashion photoshoot” for ideas. It’s a pretty broad-spectrum theme; the most important thing is that you express yourself and feel your best! You can also reach out to Jenna and Corbin for any ideas or outfit hunting help.


The most important thing is that we want everyone to feel their very best. We want to see what makes you confident - whether that’s sparkles, a larger than life hairdo, full glam makeup, showing skin, or carrying around a prop, we want it ALL! We will even have a red carpet for you to walk and take pictures on.

The only way this theme will work (and be as iconic as it sounds, of course) is if EVERYBODY commits. There’s only going to be about 65 people at the wedding, so we have full faith in you that you’re going to pull off something extraordinary! We can not wait to see what you come up with.
