CJ & Jessica matched on Hinge in October of 2023. They had their first date where they finally met in person at this bar called Kobalt in downtown Phoenix. Jessica was running late, but little did CJ know that she had her own time called Jessica time. During their date, there was Karaoke going on and CJ said he could sing better than those people but that he wasn't going to. It also turned out that it was a gay bar which Jessica found hilarious and continues to tell that part of the story to this day. At the end of the first date, Jessica wasn't sure that CJ enjoyed the date and was surprised when CJ said he wanted to see her again. CJ was nervous about kissing her but little did he know, Jess was going to be forward and planted one right on him.

Their second date was at a speakeasy that Jess loved call FYPM. CJ was so confused when he got there and wasn't sure he was at the right spot and ended up having to ask for help from a random stranger to make sure he went to the correct location. Jessica, yet again, was late but CJ eagerly awaited her arrival. The date went so well they decided to go for a walk in the area and stumbled upon a cocktail bar called The Ghost Donkey. One of the drinks CJ ordered came with a plastic Burro in it and Jess told him he should keep it. CJ kept the Burro in his car until the day he proposed to Jessica.

As they continued to get to know one another CJ learned that Jess was a huge Chiefs fan and a Swiftie. Jess decided to invite CJ to Kansas City with her to go to the Chiefs game. This is where CJ learned just how much Jess loved the Chiefs but also how much she loved Taylor Swift. While they were making their way to the seats Jess made CJ walk with her past the box Taylor Swift was sitting in and then made sure she could see Taylor from their seats.

As time went on, CJ found himself falling more and more in love with Jess every day and couldn't imagine a life without her and began dreaming about their future together. So he devised a plan to propose to her in October before she left for her trip to Bali with her cousin Hannah.

CJ took her to the spot where they had their first date and told her that it was the best last first date he ever had. Then he took her back to the Ghost Donkey and handed her back the Burro and told her that he had kept that in his car since the date and he wanted to give it to her so they could make their own Christmas ornament out of it. Then they set off for the Botanical Gardens where he was going to propose. Little did Jess know, he had his friend Claire ready to capture the moment once he popped the question. Unfortunately for CJ, there were people standing exactly where he wanted to propose so he had to stall by staring at a cactus. pretending to read a sign, right next to the spot. Jess knew right then and the jig was up! CJ got down on one knee and tried to express how he felt but stumbled over his words a bit due to his excitement because he knew this was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Thankfully for him, she said yes with excitement!

Now they have bought their first house and are expecting their first child, Evie, all while planning the wedding of their dreams. Both CJ and Jessica are so excited for their future together and know they can tackle any obstacle as long as they do it together!
