We grew up in the same area where we started elementary school together. Jonathon and I were in the same 2nd grade class. I personally thought he was cute, but we were second graders so nothing serious would happen for quite some time.
Fast-forward to middle school and we were in the same friend group with mutual friends. He didn't show any interest in me all of middle school and half of high school but I really liked him. In 2019, after he still showed no interest, I began to hang out with a different group of people. It took that transition for Jonathon to figure out that I had what he wanted in a girl.

We began talking soon after my friend group switch and continued growing in our feelings for one another. On December 5th, Jonathon planned to ask me to be his girlfriend after he came with my family to the Christmas Program. He left Sprite and Reeses Peanut Butter Cups on my nightstand as his way of asking me out, but I was simply confused. The next morning, December 6th, I asked him what the treats were about and he asked me to be his girlfriend. Our first date was at Four Brothers in LeMars.

Jonathon had the ring for two months before he proposed and cooked up his perfect plan to propose. He asked one of my friends to help him find the perfect spot at Ledges State Park and to be there to take pictures of the moment.
On May 3rd, 2023 Jonathon and I went on a date at Ledges. We walked around trails and had a picnic by the river. After we ate, we walked to a spot that looked out over the Des Moines River. It was at sunset, in that spot, that he got on his knee and asked me to marry him.
