Our Wedding

Jacob and Julia’s story started on September 19, 2020—at a backyard bonfire at Jacob and his roommates’ house on East Johnson Street in Madison. They didn’t talk much at first… mostly because Julia found a dog in the dog house and promptly decided that was the best part of the party. After spending most of the night with him, she finally met Jacob, who casually mentioned that the dog’s name was Nash—and yes, he was Nash’s owner. (A strong opening line, honestly.)Over the next few months, their friend groups kept crossing paths, and “hanging out” slowly turned into spending more and more time together. One of their favorite early memories is a group hike at Devil’s Lake—especially because Julia didn’t even realize Jacob was interested in being more than friends until later that night.Not long after, they went on their first date: walking the trails with Nash at Prairie Moraine Park in Verona. Around that time, it started to feel like this could be something real—especially because Jacob was planning a move to Washington, D.C. in six months. Even with that approaching change, they decided to officially date anyway, agreeing to take it day by day and not let the countdown steal the joy.On May 31, 2025, Jacob proposed on Observatory Hill at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, a place that had been part of their story from the beginning—spent watching Lake Mendota and getting to know each other. It was fitting to return to the place that helped build the foundation of their relationship, after adventures living in Washington, D.C. and different places throughout Wisconsin.Now they’re happily building life together in Middleton, WI, and can’t wait to celebrate their next chapter with the people they love at The Madison Club on June 12, 2026.
