Joel and Julia knew of each other in 5th grade, but it wasn’t until 6th grade that they officially met—thanks to their biology teacher, who sat the class in alphabetical order and then teased them daily for sitting next to each other. So, they avoided talking to each other until senior year of high school, when they ended up in the same board-game-loving friend group. Eventually, Joel realized just how cool Julia was. From there, they started hiking, camping, and traveling together, and began dating in college. Two and a half years later, Joel proposed to Julia at the same campsite where they had first started dating.
