Connor and Kaleigh met in the Summer of 2017 while studying abroad in Madrid, Spain. The University of Kansas students each travelled 5,000 miles only to learn that they lived just a few blocks apart from each other back in Lawrence. Kaleigh remembers meeting her future husband right in the airport café. Connor quickly made her laugh after recounting an unfortunate yogurt incident while in flight. It was the first of many laughs they would share on that trip and in the years to come. Within weeks of meeting Kaleigh and Connor admit to feeling like they met the person they were going to marry.

Six years, two states, three apartments and one dog later, that feeling proved to be true. In a nod to the beginning of their love story in Spain, the two will be married in a Spanish-style mansion back in Kaleigh's hometown, surrounded by family and friends.

In the days leading up to the proposal, Kaleigh blissfully ignored all the obvious signs that something big was coming. Signs like Connor allowing self-tanner to be applied on his face or requesting help with his outfit for a "company happy hour" Kaleigh was asked to accompany him to.

On a rare warm & beautiful November evening, Connor took Kaleigh on a walk through Lincoln Park Zoo. (In retrospect, she now realizes a zoo was an odd place for a happy hour)

The two decided to take a selfie along the way, and it just-so-happened a kind photographer was there, offering to take the picture for them. What the photographer actually captured was a beautiful proposal along the Lincoln Park bridge, with the Chicago skyline and sunset in the background. A perfectly staged surprise Connor had planned for weeks, including an engagement photoshoot and celebratory party with close family and friends. 11/10/2022 was an unforgettable night.
