Through those mutual friends, the two finally met. However, both were in their own relationships at the time and didn't keep in touch.
When the Covid Pandemic hit, Justin moved back to Texas while Kat stayed in Illinois.
Fast forward to November 2021, when Kat swore off dating.
That didn't last long, because 2 days later she got an Instagram message from Justin. They finally got to know one another, and it just so happened that Justin was scheduled to move back to Chicago come January.
Their relationship grew quickly, as did their relationship with the other's friends & family. Visiting Texas while staying close with those in Illinois was seamless.
Spring 2022: After living in Kat's studio apartment (with their cat Pudge), it was time for an upgrade. This is where it all comes full circle, because their first place together ended up being in the South Loop- right on campus of Columbia College.
Justin’s family flew in from Texas to meet Kat’s parents for the first time! She thought the purpose of the trip was for everyone to spend Mother’s Day weekend together.
After 2 months of planning and having their friends & family keep it a secret, Justin popped the question on their rooftop lounge.
After she said yes, the two went from the candles + rose petal set up to the party room where they celebrated with their loved ones all night long.
Food, music, and booze. See you there!
