The first day Tom lived in Michigan, he and Katherine met and as with all great love stories, they talked for a total of about 2 minutes. Fortunately, over the next year the two would get plenty of chances to build on that riveting first encounter. Socializing at different parties, enjoying nights out in Royal Oak and Detroit, and playing soccer together in an adult rec league gave Katherine and Tom the opportunity to build a friendship that would eventually grow into something much greater.

It was in the spring of 2017 when things started to change. Penn State's hockey team was in town playing at the Joe Louis Arena for the Big Ten Championship game, and Katherine and Tom decided to go with a couple friends. As Katherine will tell you, this was the event when she first felt something more for Tom. Over the next few weeks, an increase in snapchat and texting exchanges led to mutual feelings growing.

One day after one of their soccer matches Tom asked Katherine on a date. That Memorial Day they rented kayaks and paddled around the Detroit River. Though the river waters were quite rocky, the relationship since has been nothing but smooth sailing. From a Tigers game to summer concerts the two began falling for each other more and more deeply, and as weeks turned into months, Katherine and Tom both knew they had found a truly special love.

Over the next few years despite the many changes and curveballs of life, one constant that remained for Katherine and Tom was their ability to continue growing together, strengthening their friendship, partnership and love. Eventually, Tom stopped dragging his feet and surprised Katherine with a little trip back to the spot where they had their first date. He told her they were going to try a new restaurant for dinner, and she was very confused when they arrived at the park next to the kayak rental from years ago. He got down on one knee and you know the rest!

The only thing left is to get everyone together and celebrate! Katherine and Tom are looking forward to having everyone join them as they start their next great adventure together. This is only the beginning...
