Their love story began in California, Steven was serving in the Marine Corps and stationed in Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, and Katie was working at Junior Achievement in San Diego. They met at a country bar called Incahoots in March 2015, and over the next three months spent almost every weekend together dancing, hiking, riding motorcycle, going to concerts and finding new restaurants to eat at. Steven's military service ended, and he moved back to Minnesota in June 2015. Steven asked Katie to be his girlfriend the night he left, and they continued a long distance relationship for nine months. Katie found a job in Minnesota and drove across the country to live with Steven in March 2016. In August 2023, Steven and Katie bought their first home, and were engaged shortly after. They are looking forward to their new life together and celebrating with their closest friends and family.
