Ian and Katie met one day in Cranston, RI at the Hospitality dorm of Johnson & Wales University.

Ian and his friend Brian were playing Yu-gi-oh! the card game at the front desk of the dormitory that Katie had just moved into as a freshman.

She was comforted to find a familiar activity going on right inside her dorm lobby! She used to play cards in high school before classes, so she was familiar with the game. Katie exited the safety of the dorms to find the cafeteria in the building, only to find Ian and Brian enjoying a game. She stopped to observe.

Ian barely took any notice as it was not unusual to have someone stop and ask what they were doing. However, little did he know, this time would be different. Katie mustered all of the courage she could at the time to ask "Who's winning?". She was quite shy and quiet when they first met.

This is the point where the person asking about cards would normally walk away, but today that did not happen. This time was different. This time she stayed and never left.

Ian and Katie slowly became friends and kept in touch after college. It would take a few years to reconnect, but they found each other again and eventually became inseparable. It was no surprise what happened next!

Setting : by the water in Massachusetts on April 20, 2022 just past 5 pm

Getting married in a zoo was always Katie's dream. We are so happy to make that a reality. After the wedding we both would like to take a trip to Alaska to see the northern lights for our honeymoon. Hopefully before we settle down and start a family of our very own! We hope to make small improvements to our home in the near future as well, starting with our bathrooms and hopefully our front porch. Katie is hoping for a screened in catio/porch to enjoy the sun during the summer with the pets. Ian is hoping our flower gardens flourish this year.
