In 2006, Kayla and Jeremy had no idea that the halls of Matoaca High School would become the birthplace of a love story that would manifest nearly two decades later. God works in mysterious ways, and despite the twists and turns that comes with life’s journey, God saw fit to lead Kayla and Jeremy towards each other—“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord—Jeremiah 29:11

Life after high school took Kayla and Jeremy in different directions, but they remained in contact through social media, exchanged short messages here and there, and even randomly ran into each other on the campus of VCU. Fast forward to 2021, Kayla and Jeremy both end up attending the baby shower for their mutual friends— Ciara (Kayla’s linesister) and Anthony (Jeremy’s friend). At this point, Kayla and Jeremy had both known Ciara and Anthony separately for years….. but the baby shower was the first event that brought Kayla and Jeremy back within the same social circle and the first time Kayla and Jeremy had laid eyes on each other, in person, in YEARS. After the baby shower, Jeremy proceeded to “shoot his shot” although it took a little while to land since Kayla was just… being Kayla— they finally agreed to a lunch date, which lead to dinner dates, family visits, international trips…and now wedding bells.

Kayla and Jeremy’s love story is a testament to the idea that sometimes, life brings you full circle, allowing you to reconnect with those you care about. True love knows no time constraints, so once Kayla and Jeremy united, it didn’t take them long to know exactly where they belonged.
