Kevin had a work trip planned in January of 2023 in Denver and we thought why not extend it a few days and head somewhere new. So we decided on a trip to Breckenridge, Colorado. A few friends tagged along for the trip (shout out to The Russell’s, The Jones’, and The Matthews’) and it was decided that we’d rent a condo, explore downtown Breckenridge and the boys would ski/snowboard one day. We planned the trip and when the day came we flew into Denver, met up with Kevin and the few others there, rented our 15 passenger van and made the trip to Breck. We got to Breckenridge which was such a fun little town and explored around all day, unbeknownst to me attempting to find the perfect proposal spot. I was clueless as to any of this happening, I just assumed we were exploring a new town. I made jokes earlier in the day referring to “when Kevin finally decides to put a ring on it” and no one batted an eye but rather went in on the joke with me. The spot was found (again, I had zero clue) and we talked about coming back down to the spot prior to dinner to take some pictures because it was so pretty (again guess this was a little weird we were planning this out but my mind was not on an engagement). Dusk had hit and we all were ready to head out for some drinks and dinner. As we were approaching the area earlier found, Kev and I were walking hand in hand I was ooo-ing and ahh-ing at how pretty the mountains were, along with all the trees wrapped in lights, and the fresh snow on the ground, seriously it was stunning. Kevin led me over to a rock area and turned me around and until that moment when I turned to face him and my eyes met his I would have never guessed he was going to get down on one knee. I stood there in shock for a second saying “you’re kidding” “omg” “you’re lying”. To which Kevin responded, “are you ready for this?”. After this my memory blacks out at what was said. I remember seeing him on his knee and him pulling out the most beautiful ring I’ve ever seen and just being so excited that I get the privilege of spending the rest of my life with this man, my best friend. I of course said “YES” and we were so fortunate to celebrate with some of our bests the rest of the night. I don't think we will ever forget how special our proposal day was and will always hold little Breckenridge, Colorado in our hearts forever.
