It all started in high school and a drive home after school. Cameron and Kristen first met in high school in Springfield, VA. They were first introduced by a mutual friend and Cameron so graciously offered that friend and Kristen a ride home in his Bullitt Mustang. These were the beginnings of a beautiful friendship.Throughout high school, Kristen and Cameron kept in touch, spent time together watching movies in the Wheeler family theater room, attending Capitals hockey games, and other activities. They became very close friends pretty quickly and maintained a fun loving relationship. While they were only friends at this time, Cameron began developing feelings for Kristen and she felt like Cameron was someone special in her life.There seemed to never be a right time for Cameron and Kristen during this period to move toward anything more than friends. There were other romantic relationships that came along for both Cameron and Kristen, but they continued to maintain their strong and close friendship. As Kristen graduated high school in 2016 and moved in with her family in Florida, they lost touch with one another.Cut to a few years later in 2019, a simple message on social media sparked a reconnection for Cameron and Kristen. They had both been through other relationships, loss in their families, and periods of growing pains. Kristen sent a message to Cameron commenting on how much fun they used to have attending Capitals hockey games. Cameron was kind enough to respond and they maintained contact throughout the later part of that year. On New Years, Eve everything changed.Kristen and her best friend Sarah, had made a plan to celebrate NYE together in Washington, D.C. Kristen invited Cameron to tag along and he said yes. By the time NYE came around, Sarah had told Kristen that she was not going to be able to make it. So Cameron and Kristen went out, just the two of them, to celebrate NYE. During the course of the evening, everything was going amazing and they were having so much fun dancing, laughing, and enjoying their time together. At the stroke of midnight, a quiet shift stirred between them, and their first kiss rewrote what they had been. Literal sparks flew between them and in their hearts. They sensed their relationship had shifted forever, yet they couldn’t fathom how profoundly one kiss would reshape their lives.After this night, Cameron and Kristen became aware of the unique opportunity they had to build a relationship on the strong friendship foundation they had established. Kristen was unsure of how things would work out, but it felt right to her to give this relationship a chance and see it through. Cameron had shared with Kristen after NYE how he had developed feelings for her back in high school, and had kept her in his heart all those years. Kristen had been searching for a partner that would love her unconditionally and accept her for who she was, no questions asked. She knew that she had found that in Cameron. Kristen offered Cameron what he had almost given up on—a chance at love that felt new, bright, and full of promise.And this new chapter is just the beginning to the rest of their lives!
