As we both headed back to Manitoba in the New Year, Amieka going home and Kyle to school we began to text. Before we knew it we agreed to hang out. On Jan. 3, 2023, was our first date at Assiniboine Park to look at the Christmas lights. We enjoyed smoothies at Stellas Cafe after, as neither of us wanted the evening to end.

Kyle met the de Klein family for dinner before our skating/coffee date. We still joke about the undercooked lasagne, that Kyle claims was amazing.

We continued to grow in our relationship and fall in love with one another. We loved to explore the outdoors, get food together, play sports, watch the sunset, and laugh a lot! These are just a few photos from when we were dating:

One of our favorite dates was when we spent the weekend in Red Lake. We went fishing, hiking, had a fire on Bates beach, finishing off the night with fireworks! Later in our story this spot held another special moment :)

At the end of August 2023, Amieka began soccer training camp for her second year of university in Manitoba. This season came with lots of big changes for our relationship as Kyle moved to Alymer Ontario, to attend the Ontario Police collage, roughly 1850km away! We got to facetime and call lots during this time. Kyle enjoyed watching Amieka's soccer games live-streamed whenever he got a break from his rigorous training, and Amieka was able to watch Kyle's graduation livestreamed. Kyle got to come home once to visit Amieka at Thanksgiving, and Amieka flew all the way to Aylmer ON to visit Kyle and tour the police college.

Kyle received his badge on December 21st, 2023 and officially became a police officer. Our parents met for the first time here!

After receiving his badge Kyle began to work 1 week on 1 week off. On his days off we got to spend lots of time together going on fun adventures in Kyle's Jeep, picnics, and spending lots of time outside as the weather got nice! Through this time we learned a lot about each other and fell in love with each other more and more.

On July 13, 2024, we got engaged!! Kyle got down on one knee on Bates beach, where we went on a date the summer before (After we reflected on this, Amieka said it would be a fantastic proposal spot on that date in 2023). We got to enjoy this moment just the two of us, on our boat ride home Kyle mentioned there was one more surprise. Sam (Kyle's Dad) set off fireworks on the dock as we arrived! Our family was there to embrace us with hugs and excitement!

Together we are preparing for marriage and our wedding, which we are both excited about. And can't wait to see where the Lord brings us as we enter this new season of life together!
