Mackenzie and Frank met the modern way: by swiping right on Facebook Dating (swoon!) in 2021. For their first date, Mackenzie invited Frank to join her on a bike ride: no need to make small talk, suffer through inevitable awkward silences, or anticipate a kiss after their first date. They spent the day exploring a small area of town and stopped at a bench by a lake where they took the opportunity to get to know each other. There was an immediate comfort and ease in that interaction - it felt like home. An undeniable connection was created and they became inseparable from that moment on.
One year later, Frank began his pursuit to ask for Mackenzie's hand in marriage. During a visit to his hometown in Louisville, KY, Frank insisted on seeing the home and town where Mackenzie grew up. He met her closest friends who advised him he needed to get the blessing from her family first, so he sat down with each person in her immediate family: her brother and sister-in-law, her mom, and finally, her dad. Frank included them in his plan to propose to Mackenzie on her birthday. While they were out to dinner, their friend, Kyle, wrote Marry Me in the sand and invited everyone within sight to be included in the proposal. (She later found out that Frank and Kyle were so nervous they'd forgotten the appropriate spelling for merry vs marry). Frank took Mackenzie to the beach access where they share so many special memories and dropped down on one knee.
A few of Mackenzie and Frank's favorite memories include traveling to Santorini, eating fish and chips in England, paddle boarding in the Gulf where Frank witnessed a shark swim directly under him (likely hoping to find the distressed animal splashing around in the water i.e. Frank falling off his board), driving on Grayton Beach, riding bikes, taking a boat to Crab Island, visiting the Florida springs, watching the sunset, and adopting their puppy.
