In 2022, my friend from college- Lydia, and Darren’s childhood friend- Chris, invited us over to celebrate the 4th of July with the intention of setting us up. We both knew the plan but were unsure how things would play out having never met.

I got to the house early and when Darren arrived, he nervously fell through a screen door trying to walk out to the porch to greet everyone. Quickly I realized he was not only clumsy, but funny, genuine, and someone who was about to become my best friend. Only 3 weeks later we were dating.

Living in Royal Oak and Dewitt, we traveled back and forth getting to know each other. We met each other’s friends and family, visited each other’s favorite places, and Darren even came to my classroom to read to my students. (swoon)

After that year, we knew we both wanted to move closer to family and our lives up north. We moved to Gaylord, getting an apartment and starting another chapter.

In October of 2024, we found our house in Boyne City and now get the joy of being close to our favorite things and people again.

In August of 2025, Darren completely shocked me by proposing while out on the boat on Lake Charlevoix and now we are so excited to celebrate this next part of our lives with all of you!
