We met on vacation, both hundreds of miles from home in the Summer of 2021. Some weeks after meeting on this trip, we both realized that the connection we had when we met was something worth furthering (turns out it was😉) - We spent weeks getting to know one another. I was playing soccer at Angelo State & Jake was playing football at Oklahoma, so to say our schedules were busy is an understatement lol! Even with our crazy schedules and our 6 hour drive from one another, we were determined to see where this relationship would lead. We scattered spontaneous date nights between San Angelo & Norman every chance we could and it made for some of our most fun & precious memories.
Fast forward to me graduating in Spring of 2022. Moving back to dfw meant that seeing one another would become much easier! My family joked that I might as well have lived in Oklahoma that Fall because of how much time I spent going to see Jake & watch his games! It was such a fun year that we spent doing all the things we love; spending time with our families/friends together, going on trips, fishing, making Jake try 10000 new restaurants with me (big foodie over here) and just spending time with one another.🥰
2023 has obviously been a big year for us so far!!! We started the new year in NYC, then got back to real life with work and school. Jake was about to finish up college & graduate, but little did I know he had a big surprise planned before he graduated. Jake had wanted me to get a white dress to wear for “his senior pictures” …so naturally I bought 3 because I couldn’t decide. The weekend before we were supposed to take his senior pictures he came down to McKinney for a quick visit. We decided that week to go on what I thought was just a fancy date night, & while I’m picking out my outfit, Jake suggested to just wear one of the white dresses that I wasn’t going to wear for his pictures the next weekend. - so here I am, completely oblivious as to what’s happening, dressed up in my white dress going on a nice date night with my boyfriend. (Looking back I see it was quite obvious)
We had planned last minute to go have drinks with my brother and his girlfriend at a place we go to frequently before we went to dinner (good job Adi)😂 this place happens to be next to the most beautiful chapel (Bella Donna Chapel at Adriatica). While walking up to the restaurant, as we’re passing the chapel, Jake suggest that we go look inside. Of course I respond with something along the lines of “no, are you crazy?? We can’t go in there Jake it’s private” so Jake basically has to drag me into this chapel, but once we’re inside - we looked around at how stunning it was, then Jake walked me to the front. I turned back around and there he was down on a knee!!!
He had all of my friends and family waiting for me at a nearby restaurant to celebrate after. It really was the best day ever🥰
…and that’s how we got all of you here, we cannot wait for our wedding in Cabo with all of you. It is going to be so special, and so much fun! Cheers to the future McCoys! 🥂
