Matt and I lived across the hall from each other in our college apartments. We met through a mutual friend during my junior year and his senior year of college. It was love at first sight...for Matt. I would take some convincing.

Okay, so I wasn’t exactly disinterested, just focused on my courses. Matt asked for my number the day we met, and is pretty proud of that feat! Not long after that, he was inviting me to hang out any chance he got. He even asked me on a date to get coffee, when he doesn’t even like coffee. I know, how sweet! He will tell you I could never come out because I always said I had chemistry homework. As the year went on, I started to give in and we became good friends. Emphasis on the “friends”. Yes, I friend-zoned my fiance because I thought he was too young for me and it wouldn’t go anywhere.

As time went on, Matt and I spent a lot of time together at his apartment. We even went mountain biking with our college Outdoors Club and on the way back, I fell asleep on his shoulder. Around Halloween, I was really struggling to resist his charm, so I tried distancing myself to not get distracted! Then, in January, Matt went on a service trip to Africa for 3 weeks and I really missed him when he was gone.

One Saturday night after Matt got back from snowboarding, he asked me to come over so he could tell me something funny. I had just gotten ready for bed, but I will admit I really wanted to see him. After a couple hours of hanging out and his roommates conveniently out for the night, he made a bold move and kissed me! Neither of us can even remember that funny thing he had to tell me, but we’ve been inseparable ever since.

Matt tells me all the time that he always knew he would win me over. I don’t wish it happened any sooner, because then we wouldn’t have these precious memories. Now, what we both can’t wait for is the day we get to say “I do”!
