Our story starts in a very college way — we knew "of" each other long before we ever truly met. Joel knew that McKenna was smart, very involved on campus, and easy-going (a "campus personality", if you will). McKenna had heard that Joel was sweet, funny, and would play any One Direction song you requested if he was on aux at the function. (McKenna has since tested this rumor a thousand times, and Joel has never disappointed.)

We started dating in November 2020. After our first date - tacos, of course - we made plans to see each other again the very next day. From that day on, we were practically inseparable.
