The Night We Met: At the beginning of Summer 2021, Meg's roommates decided to meet up with Connor and his friends at a little bar called Little Woodrow's in Austin, Texas. Although he was smitten at first site, Connor thought he would play it cool and wait for the right moment to get to know Meg because it seemed like every guy in the bar was shooting their shot. However, come to find out, Meg didn't like that approach. Connor might have won the game of darts that night, but he sure didn't win the girl.

Groom's Note: Look's like the plan worked pretty well...

A few weeks later, the same group took off to Lake Travis for an afternoon on the lake. Always being the instigator, Connor dared Meg to backflip off the boat. Instead, Meg took it upon herself to belly flop straight into the water. At that point, Connor knew that he had found something special, and he was determined to get to know this beautiful girl with a craving for adventure.

Bride's Note: My belly flop was a 10/10. Connor's backflip was a 6.7/10. Embarrassing.

The First Date: The night began with dinner at Caroline, where Connor first noticed that Meg had accidentally only worn a single earring. Then we ventured over to Group Therapy - the restaurant, not the activity - for some live music (and to catch the end of an NBA playoff game...). We ended the night with s'mores at Halcyon, where Connor learned of Meg's love for Tony Romo and the Cowboys. The night was full of laughs and easy conversation, which would prove to be a preview of many dates to come.

After two months of adventures and date nights, Connor finally got to enjoy a Mi Cocina brunch with Becky, Landry and Chris, and Meg was forced to meet all of Connor's family and friends at once as his official wedding date. Connor clearly waited too long to make a move as no man likes to hear the phrase "What are we?" but Meg knew what she wanted from the get-go and quickly transitioned from wedding date to girlfriend. Then it was time for Connor to move back up to Waco, and Meg stayed in Austin prepping for a difficult but meaningful year of long distance dating.

Navigating Distance: We fell in love over the next six months. As we split time between UT football games in Austin and quiet Saturday mornings at the Waco farmer's market, we began to know each other better and care for each other deeply. Throughout the busyness, the stress, and the distractions, our relationship remained grounded in the Lord's grace and unfailing love for both of us. Sharing that solid foundation made dating over distance fruitful and fun!

Over the course of 2022, Meg and Con continued to make everything an adventure, whether it was daily life or trips across the country. When summer rolled around, Connor came back to Austin for work and we got a glimpse of life in the same city again. The best part of the summer was sharing the normalcy of life with each other.

Bride's Note: At this point, I was ready to marry the guy!

When Connor moved back to Waco for the second time, it was a hundred times harder for both of us. Throughout the next six months, we really leaned on each other to push through difficult seasons of school and work.

But don't worry, we were still able to fit in plenty of adventures and sweet memories - including Connor putting Meg on the witness stand for trial!

Groom's Note: I had known that I would marry Meg for quite some time, but I was finally able to put those feelings into words during this season. Choosing to marry Meg is the best decision I will make!

The Surprise: Meg's one request for the proposal was to be genuinely surprised, so Connor made it his mission. After taking the Bar exam, his few months of unemployment were filled with trips to jewelry store, many conversations with the women of the family, and a memorable trip up to Plano with Forest by his side to ask for a blessing! On October 28th, 2023, Connor was able to execute the plan and ask the love of his life to marry him, and she said (screamed) yes!
