Abbey Gamble - Maid of Honor
Abbey is my little sister who also happens to be my favorite sister ;) and my maid of honor! For as long as I can remember I always wanted a little sibling and I am so thankful God gifted our family with Abbey through adoption. You would never guess that based on our relationship and it’s still my favorite compliment when we get told by others how much we look so much alike. Abbey and I actually could not be further from opposites besides our shared love for coffee and getting our nails done. As kids, I was shy and wanted mom to hold my hand to do anything. On the other hand, Abbey was anything but shy and would introduce herself to anyone that would listen with her full name and ask if they wanted to be friends. I never understood how she did it, but we always had to giggle when we would be on vacation and literally everyone at the hotel would say hi to Abbey on our way to dinner the first night because she had already introduced herself. She has an incredible voice and does not shy away from any stage presence. As for me, the spotlight is not my cup of tea and you do not want to hear me sing. However, I can claim I am better at basketball and there is definitely a reason she was the best rebounder and that there was never a little Gamble following in my footsteps. She cared more about reading her books than watching during my state championship game if that gives you any idea. Honestly though, I have really grown to value and appreciate our differences and our polar opposite personalities have definitely given my parents a run for their money through the years. Abbey is authentic and is truly a gift to me. I seriously couldn’t imagine doing life without my little sis and I’m grateful for our endless ice cream runs as kids and now coffee dates, deeper conversations and shopping sprees as she has gotten older. However, I am most grateful for our shared love of Jesus and to have a built in encourager like Abbey in my life.
Rachel Novak - Maid of Honor
Rachel, also known as Rachie, has been my best friend since freshman year at CSP. I vividly remember meeting her in the dining hall fall semester and thinking “I could be great friends with this girl.” Sure enough, we grabbed coffee (or chai in Rachel’s case) and ice cream a few times and we have been besties ever since. I asked if she would read through the book of Philippians with me that same fall and I can confidently say I didn’t know it was possible to ask so many questions about something. Even though her questions challenged me, her ability to think about and ask deep questions is something I have appreciated most about Rachel throughout our friendship. I admire Rachel’s intentionality, selflessness, kindness and her ability to make everyone around her better. Throughout our friendship, I have discovered that she has an unmatched love for chai, shamrock shakes and Kenny Chesney but more importantly she loves people and the Lord so well. It has been an honor to watch Rachel become such a Godly woman and to be her biggest cheerleader in her faith journey and softball career. 2 years of being roommates and experiencing the ups and downs of college and sports together has brought us so many memories and these past 4 years have been such a gift to me. I’m so lucky to have Rachel standing by my side as my maid of honor on my wedding day and in life!
Julia Bengtson - Bridesmaid
Julia, also known as Julie or Juju to me, is a dear friend and sister in Christ. We have been through so much life together and I’m so grateful! From elementary basketball days, to the awkward middle school phases and to being high school teammates and best friends spending nearly every waking moment together. To now, wrapping up our college careers together as roommates, teammates once again and still as best friends! Thanks to my coach and the perfect circumstances, Julia had the opportunity to transfer home from Illinois this past year to come to CSP and I’m beyond grateful she got to become a golden bear for our senior year. This was never a reality I saw coming, but the Lord has been so kind to us and it was so sweet to end our basketball careers just as we started them, together. There are so many things to admire about Julia, she is intentional, dedicated, encouraging, genuine, hilarious and the best workout buddy. She radiates the joy of the Lord so well and I have never met anyone that makes everyone around her feel so valued and like anything that you say is the coolest thing she’s ever heard. Through all the stages of life we have been through, whether from a distance or in the same town, it has been a joy to watch Julia impact people’s lives for eternity by sharing her hope in Jesus and loving others well. It is an honor to have Julia stand by my side as I get married!
Kelsey Thelen - Bridesmaid
Kelsey and I met freshman year of college, but we didn’t really become close friends until sophomore year after she joined our weekly bible study for FCA leaders. Ever since we have spent many college nights, usually in a car for whatever reason, just yapping and sharing stories for hours on end. Throughout college, Kelsey has been my go to when it comes to relationship chats and deep spiritual conversations. We bonded over our love for the Lord, our desire for our lives to reflect that and our hearts for our teammates to know the gospel. We also bonded over the fact that we were still dating our high school sweethearts after multiple years with absolutely no idea if the day would ever come for us to get engaged, let alone married. Fast forward a few years, we are both engaged and getting married only a few months apart, talk about a turn of events! Being in our fiance era together has been so so fun and I love getting to talk about all things wedding with such a dear friend. I appreciate Kelsey’s gifts of planning, checking in on others and straight up just getting stuff done. She has been very helpful for my type B personality, especially during wedding planning and nursing school chaos…In all realness, Kelsey always makes sure others are cared for even if she is the one needing care and I admire that so much about her. I am beyond excited to stand by her side in June and it is such an honor for her to do the same for me in September.
Lindsey Becher - Bridesmaid
Lindsey was my first friend at CSP and my only teammate who was with me all 4 years of my college career. I was very nervous about going to a school in the cities, but Lindsey was always a listening ear and so supportive as I made my transition to college. There were many ups and downs in our college basketball careers, but the Lord was so faithful to us through it all and I wouldn’t have wanted to experience it all with anyone else. From losing seasons to ending our careers as co-captains and conference champs on the best team we could ask for was so sweet and such a gift to experience together. I have also been Lindsey's roommate for the past 2 years and it has been such a blessing to do life with her. What a gift it has been to witness the gospel change her life and it has been such a joy to see her place her identity in Christ alone in all that she does. Lindsey is kind, hilarious and the most humble person I know. I truly appreciate her example of humility and how generous she is with her time and gifts with everyone around her. We have lived a lot of life together over the past 4 years and I am so excited to step into this next stage of life with her by my side!
Courtney DeWall - Bridesmaid
Courtney and I met through basketball way back in Elementary school. We were in the same fifth grade class and spent our days having Courtney quiz me on NBA facts from across the entire league for fun. I’m not exactly sure how that started…but I’m still amazed to this day at how much I knew at that time. We were practically inseparable during middle and high school, playing on all the same basketball and lacrosse teams and going to the same church. We apparently never had enough of each other so we spent our summers in the gym and then hanging out on the lake or going on other adventures. Through the years, I have always had to keep track of a few things for Courtney to make sure she didn’t lose all of her belongings, but in all realness she has always been such an encouragement to me and a great role model for what it looks like to be a faithful follower of Jesus. I admire her consistency and discipline in everything she does and her intentionality and faithfulness as a friend. It has been such a blessing to attend vertical church together and both be in the cities for college. Nursing school has not been easy for either of us but it has been a joy to have each other in the struggle! 6 years ago we both decided to start dating wrestlers and now here we are married/getting married to them. So I can only imagine what our future will look like when we are raising our own tiny wrestlers, wish us luck! It was an honor for me to stand next to Court on her wedding day this past summer and I can’t wait to have her stand by my side for mine!
Leah Dengerud - Bridesmaid
When I think about the last 3 years, I can’t help but think about Leah going from being the scared new freshman on the team to one of my best friends. Initially when she came to CSP we jokingly had a little bit of beef because she had beat my Becker squad in the state championship, but we eventually bonded over the fact that we each got to win the championship in our respective senior seasons. Since then, she has become an honorary Becker Bulldog often tagging along to games and meeting many Becker legends. We have grown through so much together and it has been a joy to be teammates and roommates for 2 of those years. I can’t think of anyone else I know who has a better laugh or sense of humor than Leah. She is the life of the party and never fails to have my other roommates and I laughing until our stomachs hurt pretty much every single night. I have been able to watch Leah make her faith her own and I am so proud of the leader she is becoming. Leah is a gift to me and I am so honored to have her stand by my side!
Phoebe Frentzel - Personal Attendant
Phoebe and I met after freshman year of college all because we were crazy enough to sign up to go to the Ultimate Training Camp. This camp was for college athletes to learn how to integrate faith and sport through learning principles and applying them during competition. It was the most challenging thing I think both of us have ever done and it taught me what true reliance on the Lord looks like and how to not place my identity in my sport. Phoebe and I became friends at camp and bonded over both being basketball players at colleges right down the street from each other and getting to support each other's teams. We stayed in touch but it wasn’t until we interned at UTC together and were roommates for the week that our friendship really deepened. We were able to watch the Lord work in incredible ways and were pretty much inseparable during the time we were at camp. It was so fun to share how the Lord was working in our own lives, be there for eachother in the midst of struggles and also be an encouragement to each other from afar at different campuses. The word I would choose to describe Phoebe is fun, she is goofy, has the ability to laugh at herself and she makes every situation better and more enjoyable. I admire her joyfulness in all things, even when life is hard and chaotic. I’m grateful for a friend like Phoebe, where time apart doesn’t quite seem to matter and time together is just so sweet. I’m honored and can’t wait to have Phoebe a part of our wedding!
Janelle Gudim - Personal Attendant
From middle school friends to my future sister in law! Janelle has been a part of my life for a long time and I have always appreciated her friendship and encouragement. In high school we didn’t get to spend much time together because of our very different school and sport schedules, but it was always so sweet to catch up and have her in my small group and bible studies. Janelle is intentional, a great listener, a hard worker, and she seeks the Lord in everything she does. She has been a great example to me and my walk with the Lord through the years and I’m so grateful to be in this stage of life together! In all honesty, my jaw hit the floor when I heard she was talking to Blake (Lukas’s brother) and I’m not joking. Never in a million years did I see that relationship coming, but now it makes so much and I am so happy for them to be getting married and for us to be sisters forever! I’m honored to have Janelle be a part of our wedding and our middle school selves would be just as surprised to know we are engaged together and that we are marrying brothers!
Blake Paulson - Best Man
I don’t think any paragraph can do justice to what a brother has done in your life but I can try. Blake has been a great role model in my life and someone I look up to for many reasons. It wasn't until he went to college when we realized we might actually like each other. Blake loved being in clubs at school and waking up early and I liked playing sports and waking up at the last minute. There’s too many childhood stories I could share, but I do know he has paved the way for me to be more successful than I would be on my own. Blake has helped me get into college, get jobs, and receive many grades I didn’t deserve. I think as we grow older we have been able to see each other's strengths and work together instead of see our differences as things that could drive us apart. We’ve both come to terms with the fact that someone has to be the brains and someone has to be the muscle of our team and I think we make a pretty good one.
Isaac Regel - Groomsman
I’m not even sure where to start with Isaac, but I think I’ll start with that I’m proud of him and all the life we have done together. We’ve been through a lot of highs and lows and glad we have had each other for every single one. I first met him lifting my freshman year and we didn’t really talk much at first. One day I think one of us overheard the other talking about Call of Duty and I think since the first time we’ve played warzone together we’ve maybe missed playing xbox together 10 days in the last 8 years. We almost immediately became inseparable at that point in high school. We spent our summers working and lifting together and have had the opportunity to live together during college.
Aaron Wilson - Groomsman
Aaron has played many roles in my life including coach, mentor and friend. I first met Aaron because he was my personal coach at Augsburg and we would wrestle and do film sessions together. Not long after school started my freshman year, Aaron started up a bible study on the wrestling team. I was very thankful for this because I was worried about finding like-minded community in the cities. Aaron continued to coach and mentor me through bible study and helped as I began to take over the group the following years. Through my last years at Augsburg, Aaron has become more of a friend to me and he has guided me with countless things like getting engaged and marrying Megan. Aaron and his wife Megan have helped with wedding planning, giving me haircuts for the last 4 years, and even teaching my Megan how to cut hair as well. I can’t thank Aaron enough for the things he helped me with and how he has mentored me the past 4 years.
Matt Rogge - Groomsman
Matt and I were incoming freshmen together at Augsburg in 2021 and I don’t think we spoke a word to each other the whole year. We both decided to go to the ultimate training camp which is an Athletes in Action camp where they try to teach athletes how to integrate their faith and sport. We roomed together and so at that point we were forced to get to know each other. I don’t think since that first night at camp, Matt andI were seen in the same place and not attached at the hip. We got so many comments at camp about how close we were, but had really only met that week. After Matt transferred colleges we continued to stay very close and hangout anytime he was back in town. Matt and I both went through plenty of highs and lows during our college careers but I know we are both glad to have each other no matter the time or place. I think God made Matt feel led to transfer because us two meatheads would get into too much trouble together if we were still teammates.
Derek Bjornstad - Groomsman
Derek’s first ever year teaching at Becker was Megan and I’s fifth grade year. I have never called Bjornstad Derek so I am going to stop now (his name in my phone is actually BjornDAD). It is funny but with my dad traveling for work a lot he has helped give advice and be a listening ear. Megan actually had Bjornstad as her fifth grade teacher, which is funny to think about now. I didn’t get to know Bjornstad until high school where I played football on his 10th grade team. He continued to be a coach for varsity until I graduated. After senior year we would go lift every day during the summer and it has been our tradition every summer since. It is easily our favorite part of the summer together. Bjornstad has helped me mature as a player and man and I am so grateful to have spent countless hours in the gym together talking and lifting over the past 5 years.
Ethan Anderson - Groomsman
I think the first time Ethan and I met was at Caden’s birthday party in about 4th grade. I may or may not have put a smelly cheese card under his pillow and he had to leave at about 3 am because he was sick. I think that was about the only time in my life I’ve seen Ethan miss out on a good time. Ethan is one of the most generous and outgoing people I know. He is generous with his time, energy, and personality; he doesn't hold any of it back from anyone ever which I really admire. I am grateful for every opportunity I get to have with Ethan and am honored to have him stand by my side.
Teddy Halvorson - Groomsman
The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Teddy is his smile and giggle followed by a loud, “PETE!” whenever he sees me. I also can’t think about Teddy without thinking of our annual lake day and “freedom pyramid” on skis. Teddy is a great man to talk to about life, especially since we graduated together and are going through similar stages. He is a little bit ahead of the game now that he just became a dad. I have appreciated getting to grow up and create our own lives and families together while keeping Jesus at the center. I had the privilege of standing by his side for his wedding day and I’m honored he gets to be a part of mine.
Roy Grigsby - Usher
You might as well call Roy and I Yin and Yang. Roy is the most outgoing and friendly person I think I have ever met in my life, and well you all know I’m not the most social butterfly. Roy is also about 7 feet tall and I’m 5’7” on a good day. Roy shows me the city life and I get to show him the country life of petting horses, goats, and driving big trucks. Although I’ve only known him for a few years he has been a great friend with a big heart.
Caden DeWall - Usher
From bus buddies to both of us getting married is quite the accomplishment. When I moved to Becker in first grade Caden was my next door neighbor and my first friend. It has been awesome to see how far we’ve come from the kids playing on the trampoline and basement dodgeball to being collegiate athletes and getting married. Caden has been a great role model for me in my faith, especially throughout high school and college and I am grateful to have him be a part of our wedding day.
