We met in high school during sophomore year, though Jordy insists he doesnt remember it. I do, though. I was standing in front of the school one day, just watching this guy—Jordy—doing a quarter trick by himself. I was kind of mesmerized, just quietly watching for a while. Finally, I said, Thats cool.
He looked up, smiled, and asked if I wanted to try it myself. I told him, No thanks, and just kept watching him. We ended up chatting for a little while about how hed learned the trick and how long he’d been practicing. After that, we said our goodbyes and went our separate ways.
About a week later, we were introduced properly by some mutual friends. It was funny, because even though we’d met before, it felt like meeting again for the first time.
On this day, Jordy shared his feelings with me, and for some reason, I nervously replied with, No comment. I still don’t really know why I said that, but it just came out. We both laughed it off, but then we agreed that we would pray and ask God if this was the path He was leading us on. We decided to trust in Him and let Him guide the next chapter of our relationship.
Among the waves and wonders of the Aquarium of the Pacific, our first date became the start of something beautiful.
