The Machu Picchu archaeological site contains the remains of a city that was built by the Inca at the beginning of the 16th century (shortly before the Spanish colonized the area, ending their empire). Today, Machu Picchu is the most-visited tourist destination in Peru. Thousands of visitors come every day to see the mysterious structural and cultural remains of the Incan civilization; some also come hoping to absorb the site’s energy.
The way to reach Machu Picchu is by train from the city of Cusco to Aguas Calientes, then taking a short bus ride to the ruins. The train ride is scenic and takes around 3.5 hours each way.
The PeruRail Vistadome Observatory train is a luxurious train ride from Cusco to Machu Picchu that offers panoramic views and a unique experience. The train includes an observatory car with a transparent roof and large windows, an open-air balcony, and secure railings.

We’re finally seeing the rain tail off this month, and the showers drop significantly. It’s still part of the wet season because there are still showers here and there, but you’ll see plenty of sun and enjoy lovely days. It’s starting to get chilly at night, with a low of 39°F and a high of 64°F.
