We understand that many of you have traveled from a distance to celebrate with us and we are so appreciative! We wanted to put together a list of our favorite places and activities so that you can share in some of the reasons why we love living in Rhode Island!
One of our all-time favorite spots to hang out!! It's 4 restaurants under one roof, 2 full bars, and TV's everywhere to watch any sports game you can imagine. It's a great spot to check out, especially if you're traveling with family and can't decide on one spot to eat!
Myke's favorites: A 'Beach Bum' beer & bao buns
Jules' favorites: The G.O.A.T & the bruschetta flatbread
An incredible pizza/Italian joint, known for their award-winning pizza! Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything you order here!
If you're looking for a relaxed afternoon trying some local wines, be sure to check out Newport Vineyards! It's across the bridge into Newport (a toll is required - check with your rental car agency about how they handle those!). Try some wines and hit the shops and wharfs in Newport afterwards!
Jules loves their 'Great White' and 'Great White Rose'!
Our go-to spot for brunch & drinks on the water! If you've visited us, we've probably taken you here. This is an iconic Rhode Island spot known for their 'Coffee With Love' and their brunch (served until 2pm). Be mindful of the parking because they WILL ticket if you park in undesignated zones.
Our go-to orders:
Myke - Smoked Salmon Benny or the Breakfast Burrito & Coffee with Love
Jules - Ham & Cheese omelette with a side of Hollandaise & Coffee with Love
Top notch Italian food along Newport's cobblestone street shopping district. We recommend making a reservation as the place fills up quickly!
Wickford is our adorable little gem of a town. We live about 2 miles away and absolutely love walking around Wickford and grabbing a bite to eat. Wickford on the Water is a great option and Shayna's Place nearby is also a good option for sandwiches!
If you're a fan of Indian food, it doesn't get better than Rasa! Rasa is located in East Greenwich, about 20 minutes north of Narragansett in a very cute town. You can also visit MainStreet Coffee afterwards for drinks!
One of our favorite restaurants in Newport! Right on Bannister's Wharf and the inside is a dark & cozy tavern vibe.
Another great local winery! They recently opened this location and we love their 'Wickford White' wine!
A local breakfast/lunch joint with SUPER reasonable prices and tasty food. There usually is a wait though, so be prepared to hang out for a bit!
If you have access to a vehicle and want to check out a cute area, head to East Greenwich and make a stop at Main Street Coffee. They're a cafe that also has full bars and a night scene as well - they're famous for their espresso martinis!
This is hands-down our favorite Mexican food restaurant in the area! It's probably about 20 minutes away from the hotel, and right near historic Wickford Village (another recommended area to explore!)
Our favorite orders:
Jules: Enchiladas Tapatio & a Coconut Margarita
Myke: Chimichanga con Queso & a Corona
One of our favorite places to hang on weekends. New England is known for their amazing craft beer and Tilted Barn is no exception! They don't serve food inside but often have a food truck available outside - check their website for information!
Recommendations:
Myke loves: Cactus IPA
Jules loves: Sunrise Over Sea (sour)
The Man, The Myth, the Father of the Bride (Art) loves: 'The Chosen One' & 'The Other One'
If you're looking for breakfast recommendations, T's is a great option right in Narragansett! They also have a location in East Greenwich if you're venturing further away from the hotel block for the day!
Another awesome local spot to grab food or a drink!
A Rhode Island staple! Whalers is known for their IPAs and they are kid-friendly as well. They don't serve food but they allow you to bring whatever you want inside!
The Coast Guard House is right next to The Towers and it's a bit pricier, but offers high end dining and drinks with a view of the water. During the month of December, they also have igloos for rent outside for about $100. Check out their website for more information!
If you decide to go to Newport to explore and need a quick bite to warm you up, check out Newport Chowder Company! They have a small spot just next to Luke's Lobster (which we also recommend!) Their chowders are amazing and will definitely hit the spot on a chilly winter day!
You can visit and tour several of the Newport Mansions, but the Breakers is one of the most famous! It offers tours booked through their website and they get beautifully decorated for Christmas. Definitely book early so that you guarantee your spot!
If you're looking for an active day, get bundled up and check out the Cliff Walk along Newport's famed mansions. The 'Forty Steps' entry point is our favorite spot, as you can walk either direction for spectacular views of the sea & opulent homes of some of the wealthiest families in American history. They also offer tours if you book ahead and several of the mansions will be decorated inside for the holidays.
Roger Williams Park Zoo hosts a Holiday Lights festival every year, which is perfect if you traveled into town with your kids! You can find details and tickets on their website. Tickets are required, though, so we'd recommend booking in advance!
For beer lovers, we recommend checking out Apponaug Brewing Company if you're up that way!
A beautifully decorated Christmas village about 45 minutes away from Narragansett. There are tons of shops to explore and you can also visit Mystic Aquarium or the maritime museum while you're there as well! P.S. Olde Mystic Village is where we took our engagement photos!
If you have access to a vehicle and are looking for a half-day or full day roadtrip from Rhode Island, take a drive to Mystic Seaport! There's tons of shopping, restaurants, the famed Mystic Pizza, the Mystic Aquarium, and a seaport museum. It has tons of quaint New England charm and gets decked out for the holidays!
If you're looking for a day trip from Rhode Island, make sure to either drive or take the train up to Boston. Trains run from Providence, RI to South Station in Boston on weekends. From there, you can arrange all sorts of tours or walk the city and explore. Our favorite things to do:
-Take a walking tour (TripAdvisor has several options)
-Visit the Bell in Hand Tavern (oldest in the US!)
-Check out Samuel Adams Taphouse
-Visit the Beantown Pub- known for being the only place in the world you can 'drink a cold Sam Adams while looking at a cold Sam Adams' as his grave is across the street.
The home of Samuel Adams beer! If you're in Boston, we recommend a stop at this massive taproom!
You can take the ferry right from Quonset to Martha's Vineyard for the day! Visit their website for more information about ticket prices and ferry schedule!
