Ceremony & Reception
When should I arrive?
We are asking guests to arrive at the venue between 4:15 and 4:45 so everyone can be comfortably settled and seated before the ceremony begins at 5:00. :)
Will the wedding take place indoors or outdoors?
Both the ceremony and reception will take place indoors.
Is there a dress code?
Preferably, we would love our guests to be dressed formally, but dress comfortably! The wedding will be in late November, and while we will be indoors, it might be chilly. Finding a comfortable middle ground between fall formal and warm is perfect attire! Please NO dark greens or gold as those are the colors of the wedding party.
What is the policy on kids/plus ones?
Some of our invited guests have younger children - they are of course included in the invitation! We love our junior guests. :)
Due to a limited guest list, we are asking for NO plus ones.
Will the refreshments at the reception be vegetarian/vegan?
Everything served at the reception will be vegetarian and most of it vegan. We will be offering gluten free options as well for those who need it.
What is our alcohol policy?
While most of our guests are of the Seventh-day Adventist faith and abstain, we understand that some of our loved ones are not. Please be aware that absolutely no alcohol of any kind is permitted on the venue premises at any time. We thank our guests for their cooperation.
Personal Questions
When did you meet?
In August of 2022, the beginning of our first semester at Southern. Our individual memories of "how" we met vary, but we know it was the same day! (See Our Story for more details)
Who confessed they had feelings first?
Michelle did, but Jonah had been praying about her for a while and confessed mutual feelings the same day!
Favorite memory?
Spending the summer of 2024 in California and Thanksgiving in Western North Carolina.
Who said "I love you" first?
Jonah did!
What do you most love about each other?
Jonah would say that he most loves the way that Michelle loves those she priorities - Jesus, him, her family, etc. She holds her faith close and he adores that. He also loves her mix of gentleness with passion, and that she's so fun to be around. She is his favorite person to be with! She's also strong and has often been his shoulder to cry on. Michelle would say that she most loves Jonah's loyalty, best expressed by how he has always been there when she most needed him. He has held her through good times and bad, and she knows she can talk to him about anything and everything. She says however that she thinks she is most in love with how he's grown his faith since they've been together, and how he prays. He goes to the Lord about everything, even the mundane and the frustrating, and that inspires her.
Do you have a mutual favorite Bible verse?
The whole of 1 Corinthians 13! Also Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, Philippians 4:6-7, and 1 John 4:18.
What are you most excited about for marriage?
Being each other's constant through the highs and lows of life, for like, forever! But also, really just getting to do the mundane of daily life together, sharing the joys and the burdens, being in ministry together, etc.
