Mikayla met Dustin through his older sister, Dani. Mikayla and Dani were coworkers at a dental office in Hayward. Dani invited Mikayla to join a group bike ride at New Moon Ski & Bike. Dustin and Mikayla met after the ride and hit it off immediately. Dustin planned their first date at Trail's End where they enjoyed a Friday night fish fry on the patio next to Lac Courte Oreilles lake. Fast forward to February 2023, they got engaged at the top of Mount Telemark in Cable, WI while enjoying a snowshoe with their dog, Hope.
