There are so many things to do at Custer State Park for people of all ages! We recommend getting a weeklong pass for the park for $20 if you have the time. For those who enjoy the outdoors, Sylvan Lake is a popular area that has kayak and paddleboard rentals. There is several hiking trails spread throughout the state park as well, ranging from easy to challenging to traverse. If you have children, there are different safaris and trail rides to enjoy. And of course, we definitely recommend taking the time to drive the Custer Wildlife Loop located within the park. Throughout this amazing drive, you will have the opportunity to see native wildlife such as antelope, buffalo, deer, various aviary species, coyotes, wolves, and even mountain lions. Lastly, there are several must-sees located just outside of the state park. These include Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Hill City and the 1880 train, Reptile Gardens, and Bear Country.
