How it started (FROM HIS PERSPECTIVE)

I made a trip to Des Moines in the spring to attend a friend's goodbye party who was moving out of Iowa. Thinking I was going to have lunch with my friend alone, he actually invited a group of people out to eat that included Kathy. I'm sure it was then when Kathy laid eyes on me that she was head-over-heels since I was so handsome, funny, and awesome. We hung out later that evening at the party and she probably made up her mind then that she must have me. Even throughout the summer, she kept texting me nonstop since I was so irresistible (obviously). Knowing that she couldn't help being attracted to such a ravishing stud, I finally gave in to her pursuits and started to get to know her, too. I found out that she was pretty cool. So by the fall, I asked her out.

Okay so this is how it really started... (FROM HER PERSPECTIVE)

We first met at a church conference in Iowa in the fall of 2019. I didn’t consider him as anything more than a leader at the conference. Honestly, my first impression of him was that he seemed like a strict person and came off as unapproachable. We didn't talk after that.

It was a couple years later that he visited Iowa again for the goodbye party. It was this time around that I noticed that he was actually more friendly and was easy to talk to. As the night went on, I was able to get to know him more, being drawn to the humorous side of his personality.

I messaged him first after that weekend. As we continue to text back-and-forth, I felt a growing desire to get to know him more and more everyday. I started to recognize in me that I had some feelings for him, mixed with thoughts in my mind that he could be the one. But I was unsure that he felt the same way. Though we did text a lot and that he even invited me to hang out together (he also drove out to Iowa to see me a couple times), I was still not getting any clarity on where things were. So I flat out asked him what was going on. He admitted he really liked me and thought all along that I was amazing, and proceeded to ask me out... on my birthday.

We thank God that He has brought us together for His purposes.
