It was September of 2017 when Connor slid into Nicole's Instagram DM's. Connor was just coming back from a weekend in Columbus for Labor Day, and Nicole had posted a picture of their family dog with a soccer ball that caught Connor's eye. The conversation carried on until Connor asked for Nicole's number. After talking almost everyday, Nicole made the trip up to Baldwin Wallace where they finally met for the first time. This was the first of many weekends over the next few years that they spent commuting to spend time together.
In May of 2018, after they had just graduated undergrad, they took a trip to Florida to see Connor's grandparents and Nicole's Aunt, Uncle and grandma. On the last night with Connor's grandparents they took a trip to the beach to watch the sunset - this is where Connor finally asked Nicole to be his girlfriend (only took him 8 months). After the trip, Connor moved back to Cleveland to complete his Masters and they continued spending weekends together when they could.
Once Connor graduated with his Masters, he moved back to Columbus and into their first apartment together in Gahanna, OH. In March of 2020, they finally agreed to add the cutest english cream golden retriever, Wagner, to their family. Little did they know, Wagner was now a COVID puppy and the best addition.
Over the last few years there has never been a dull moment. Connor and Nicole moved from the Easton area, back over to Hilliard. They enjoy spending time with friends and family, visiting Nicole's parents in Texas, adventures with Wagner and traveling when able. Little weekend trips have become one of their favorite things to do as they try to visit each state! They are always teased for their shared loved of DQ ice cream cake (and swear they only get it for birthdays).
It was just after their 5 year anniversary that Connor asked the question of a lifetime. He had spent the last few months planning the perfect surprise - a proposal on July 8th, 2023 at the Scioto Mile. Connor got down on one knee and asked Nicole to marry her and with the biggest smile and tears in her eyes, she said YES! The surprise didn't stop when they got to Milestone 229 for lunch. Waiting for them were Connor's Mom and Step Dad, his Dad and Step Mom from North Carolina, his Sister and Brother in law, Nicole's parents from Texas and their best friends. He could not have done a better job, especially with a photographer to capture the special moment.
June 14th, 2024 is going to be a very special day for Connor and Nicole, and they look forward to spending it with the people that mean the most to them. No matter where they end up, 614 will always be a part of their love story.
