Do you believe in the red string theory? According to Chinese folklore, two people destined for each other are connected by an invisible red string. This string may stretch and tangle, but it never breaks, eventually bringing two souls together. Such is the enchanting tale of Philip and Nacelle.

Philip and Nacelle’s fathers were both born and raised in the vibrant region of Bicol, Philippines. However, in the wake of the Marcos Era, their parents sought better opportunities elsewhere. Nacelle blossomed in the picturesque sunset strip of Candon City, Ilocos Sur, while Philip thrived in the dynamic SF Bay Area in California. The red string of destiny tugged at them, creating almost-meetings and near-crossings, but never allowing their paths to converge—until the fateful day they met in San Jose, California.

Nacelle pursued her college studies in the bustling heart of Metro Manila, while Philip frequently visited Manila, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of Pasay and BGC. Unbeknownst to each other, they were often just a breath away. Nacelle was in and out of Ilocos and Manila, while Philip made trips home to Bicol and Manila.

Destiny was hard at work, weaving their stories closer together.

One significant day, Nacelle landed at San Francisco International Airport to start her new role in San Jose, CA, just minutes away from where Philip worked. Their official first encounter took place in Campbell, CA, and their first dates unfolded amidst the iconic sights of San Francisco. On the first date, they bonded over shared interests in space travel and the future of humans as a multi-planetary species, making their conversations flow endlessly until they lost track of time. They also bonded over the tales of the majestic Mayon Volcano and how their ancestors once roamed the enchanting land of Albay, Bicol.

From that first magical date, their connection only deepened. Each subsequent date revealed more of their shared passions and dreams. Philip, an engineer, and Nacelle, an accountant, found common ground in their love for the arts. They wandered through museums, absorbed history from paintings, and enjoyed big bus tours. They traveled, created videos and music together, cherishing every moment of creativity and exploration.

And so, the red string that had once danced around them, and bringing them together finally succeeded. It tied their hearts in an unbreakable bond, proving that fate, with its intricate designs and patient weaving, had brought them exactly where they were meant to be—together, in love, and ready for all the adventures ahead.
