Our story began at Roosevelt College Cainta. Though we were schoolmates since grade one in 2003, our paths didn't truly connect until grade six in 2008, when a true friendship blossomed that lasted until 2011.
We officially became a couple on December 9, 2011. We skipped the traditional "ligawan" phase; it was a bit of a leap of faith, becoming a couple almost instantly. In a way, figuring out how to navigate the relationship was our "ligawan" stage. Everything felt new, and we definitely went through our share of awkward moments as we got to know each other, along with the usual ups and downs of learning to make a relationship work. High school ended, and then came college...
College was tough, and the long-distance setup hit us hard. We weren't ready for the shift from seeing each other daily to just a couple of times a month; that distance created a real void. Even though ParaƱaque and Manila weren't that far apart geographically, our schedules made it feel like a world away. That period in college truly tested our relationship, but in the end, it forged our love into something stronger.
We faced a mountain of problems, both individually and as a couple. It was a significant time of transition as we navigated becoming young adults and, in a way, growing up together. But no matter what came our way, we worked through it.
It wasn't exactly a fairytale like proposal but it was a magical experience for the both of us.
I always tell him that I don't want a proposal since this is just a way of asking if I want to marry you, and we both know that I do.
We were on a family trip in Siargao in 2018, we were swimming alone and looking for some nice shells. When he suddenly he burst out while holding the shell he got:
"Will you be my forever?"
I laughed.
But of course, I said YES.
Thirteen years of shared adventures, weathering life's storms and celebrating countless joys, have only deepened our love. With our sweet angel Sophia watching over us, we stand ready to exchange our vows and become husband and wife in God's embrace.
We're so excited for this beautiful new journey that awaits us!
