Our story began on an ordinary April afternoon in 2023; a brunch in Nairobi where two separate worlds quietly intertwined. We met through a friend, but it was the gentle connection between us that kept drawing us closer with every conversation, every laugh, and every moment shared.On December 3rd, 2023, we made our relationship official, and from that day, our love unfolded with grace and ease. A year later, on December 7th, 2024, we took a beautiful step forward when Mike visited Maria’s home to ask for her hand in marriage, honoring tradition and the families that raised us. We celebrated our traditional wedding ceremony on June 3rd, 2025, surrounded by love, support, and joy.Together, we’ve built a bond that is calm, kind, soft, funny, and deeply loving. We treat each other with tenderness, respect, and gratitude, always holding each other like something truly precious.These two years have been the most beautiful chapter of our story… and on December 29th, 2025, we begin a lifetime of new ones, hand in hand.

There’s so much to say about Vava because she isn’t just Rister’s cousin- she’s her full-time life partner. She’s the partner in business, dreams, and every crazy plan in between. The girl who brings the vava voom and the confetti; the hype woman, the wedding shopping partner, the strategist, and the built-in best friend who makes life brighter, louder, and infinitely more fun.

Beyond everything, Vava is deeply selfless, kind, and generous- the type who loves without holding back, gives without being asked, and shows up with her whole heart every time. She’s the elder sister God handed Rister on a silver platter; a blessing she never requested but couldn’t live without.

This wedding wouldn’t make sense without her by Rister’s side, just like life wouldn’t feel whole without her in it.

If Rister and Meg were a TV show, they’d be the comedy duo who make every scene funnier just by showing up. Best friends since high school, they’ve been cracking each other up for years and are rascals for life.

Rister laughs her loudest with Meg; the kind of laugh that hurts your stomach and makes strangers stare. No matter how grown-up and serious they get, being together still feels like being 14 again.

Meg is a darling: loyal, hilarious, heartfelt, and endlessly supportive. She holds some of Rister’s funniest and most precious memories, and now she’s right by her side for one of the biggest moments yet.

Vivian-lovingly known as Vivi or Sabiri is Rister’s only sister and one of the kindest, gentlest souls she knows. She doesn’t just bring calm into a room; she turns it into comfort. Vivi and Rister aren’t just siblings; they’re true best friends, the kind who share clothes, secrets, and a language only they understand.

And the funny part: when baby Vivian came home from the hospital, Rister’s parents told her they’d bought her from the supermarket. So anytime Vivi cried or caused chaos, Rister would demand a return and an exchange for a “better model.” Thankfully, the store closed permanently. 

Today, Rister wouldn’t trade her for anything. She is—and will always be—her forever ride or die. ❤️

Vivian Nyabuto

Laura has been one of Rister’s two best friends since high school. She’s seen every version of her and loved her through all of them. Gentle but brilliantly witty, she’s the friend who speaks life with honesty, wraps mistakes in grace, and shows up quietly with a heart so selfless you feel held.

She brings laughter that softens the hardest days, care that runs deep, and a steadiness that feels like home. A rare friend—the kind who doesn’t just witness your life, but helps shape it with love.

Rister is deeply grateful to have her by her side on this day, just as she has been in every season before.

Rister calls her Dot. They met in graduate school while pursuing their Master of Laws, and they hit it off instantly. Since then, Dot has become one of Rister’s closest and most cherished friends-her go-to eating-out partner, travel buddy, and partner in getting lost in new cities on purpose.

Dot is a talented magistrate, a sweet, devoted mother, and a fiercely loyal friend who balances wisdom with the most calming laughter. She is proof that friendship can be soul food; comforting, fulfilling, and absolutely unforgettable.

Dorothy Aswani

Maryanne and Rister grew up together, sharing childhood memories that still make them smile. One of their classics? Going for tuition at Strathmore and literally carrying each other so they could pay for one seat and save the rest of the money for snacks. 🤣 A friendship built on teamwork, laughter, and very creative budgeting.

Through the years, Maryanne has stayed the same—helpful, accommodative, and endlessly kind. She’s been there in every season, offering support without being asked and warmth without hesitation.

Rister is deeply grateful that the girl she once schemed snacks with is now here to celebrate one of the biggest moments of her life. Some friendships don’t just last—they grow with you.

Rister met Sue back in 2018 at Sue’s own wedding. She was just someone’s plus-one, happy to show up, celebrate, and chop rice in peace. but instead, she walked away with a lifelong friend. It turns out God had more planned that day than just food and dancing.

Sue is gentle, kind, dependable, and strong in faith. The type of friend who prays with you, prays for you, and prays even when you don’t have the energy yourself. Quiet spirit, big heart, and a reliability you can build life with.

Rachel and Rister became fast friends, but what started easily has only grown stronger with time. She has a calm, kind presence that brings quiet warmth, honest laughter, and steady support wherever she goes.

Maria is deeply grateful to have her by her side on this special day- not just as a bridesmaid, but as a friend whose gentleness and loyalty have become such a gift in her life.

Rister met Banks through Vava, and she quickly became one of those rare, steady people life surprises you with. She’s the quiet voice of reason in every storm; thoughtful , supportive, and deeply genuine. Banks shows care more through kindness than noise, and somehow always knows how to make people feel understood.

A gentle soul, with a strong heart. A true blessing in this journey.

Berrry! One of the easiest, most pleasant humans to be around. She has this quiet calm that somehow settles any situation, the kind of peace you don’t even realize you needed until she’s there. For the past five years, Betty has been more than a friend; she has been family, a true sister at heart.

She’s that friend who will show up in her pajamas if you need her, hair in a bonnet, no questions asked, ready to fix life. And if you ever need a laugh? Just look for Berry Pirrazz, she’ll leave you laughing until your ribs hurt. 😂

Irene met Rister while she was training at KSL. Her cousin happened to be Rister’s classmate, and through that simple connection came one of the truest friendships. From day one, Irene had a hilarious way of describing her;“that tough-cookie girl with a bold personality in a small body.” 😂 Tiny but mighty, and Irene never misses a chance to remind her!

Beyond the jokes, Irene is deeply kind, reliable, and fiercely loyal. What started as a casual introduction has grown into a bond strong enough to feel like family. Today, her family has become Rister’s family too- and that is one of life’s sweetest surprises.

Rister met Mokeni through business circles, and quickly discovered she’s the OG of Mother-of-the-Bride gowns on this side of the world. A true powerhouse; elegant, talented, and trusted by half the moms in Kenya.

Beyond fashion, Mokeni is something else entirely: a prayer warrior on a mission. A designer of gowns, a believer in miracles, and the woman who literally prayed this love story into existence.

Hilda Mokeni

Nobert has been a close friend to Mike almost all his life! Born in the same neighbourhood, attending the same schools and being classmates from nursery school to form 4 at Maseno School. He is a great guy with a big heart. They share strong and deep family ties.

Dr. Gisesa Kevin is a dedicated and resolute medic, with intrinsic drivers to scale peaks in his industry. When he's not saving lives, he's probably engaging in intelligent conversations around geopolitics and history, or just having a polite drink.

Dr. Shem is the other medic in the family. A natural leader and organiser. He's also a team manager of a football team and a passionate fan of the game. Most importantly, he's caring, altruistic and a supportive brother.

Captain, Anto, Tony or simply Adeya as he is well referred to met Mike as young boys when they reported as Form 1 students in Maseno School in 2004. This is 21 years of friendship later! They both share a passion for aviation and are both excellent pilots in their niche. They both are avid chess and scrabble players.

Capt. Antony Adeya

Collo or Moss is Manwa's brother in-law. He is Manwa's valued friend who has offered him unconditional support and sound advice. He is a practical problem solver ready to lend a hand in the family.

Collins Nyabuto

One of his favourite quotes is by Franklin D. Roosevelt; "Never underestimate a man who overestimates himself." He is who he thinks he is. Hon Gisesa's has been one Mike's closest relatives since childhood when they were described as naughty kids whenever they met at get-togethers.

Hon. Nyambega Gisesa

Victor blossoms in quiet confidence. Victor and Manwa met and became friends almost instantly. An observant, witty and warm once comfortable kind of gentleman. He is deeply passionate and knowledgeable about the environment (he's your go-to for anything carbon credits)

Victor Wagude

An interesting name for an interesting man. Sam is simply the easiest going of them all. Anything that involves fun, he's never too far behind. An ardent scrabble player, a farmer and a humanitarian. He's extroverted, a real life social butterfly who's ready to be here and there.

Sam Oranjo

Dr. Kevin is a close friend to 'Major' as he fondly refers to Manwa. He has the incredible ability to give without you feeling indebted. He is a present friend who would stick as close as brother would. The medic is also the tallest in the team.

Dr. Kevin Machogu

Captain Omondi is an aviator of no mean repute! A former classmate to Manwa as well from The School, he assumes the demeanor of a humble man. Often described as the moral compass among his circle of friends, Capt Omondi and Manwa have been friends for over 21 years. 

Capt. Albert Omondi

Government Name: Wesley Mokua. This gentleman likes to go with the flow with unrivalled adaptability. All circles of friends deserve such talent! Another friend of Manwa for a decade. A natural  logistician and mobiliser who always shows up for the team.

Mo West

Dommy would strike you initially as quiet, but do not be fooled! He has his moments. He has been Manwa's friend for many years and will always show up for his friends despite his usually busy schedule. A director at a leading manufacturing firm, he juggles work and play seamlessly.
