Good evening, everyone. My name is Roddy, and it is my great honor to stand here tonight to celebrate Luke and Sam.

We’ve all gathered here not only to witness their marriage, but to celebrate a love story that has been years in the making — one that’s already touched every single one of us.

Now, before we continue, we pause to honor those who cannot be here with us in body, but who are certainly here with us in spirit: Sam’s father and siblings.

Let us take a quiet moment together to honor them.

In a town like this, secrets usually don’t last very long. But somehow Luke and Sam managed to surprise exactly no one when they announced they were together again.

From the very beginning, Luke was absolutely sure. Sam… well, she made him work for it. (pause for laughter)

But through every twist and turn, through friendship and distance, there was always something unshakable between them. And that’s why tonight doesn’t feel like the start of something new, but the continuation of something that was always meant to be.

Marriage is a sacred gift. It’s more than a contract; it’s a covenant before God — a promise to love and serve one another for all your days.

Ecclesiastes reminds us: “Two are better than one… if either falls, one can help the other up. Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

Tonight we witness Luke and Sam weaving their lives together — with God at the center — into something stronger than either could ever be alone.

The Story of Luke & Sam

Luke and Sam’s story hasn’t been a straight line — but the best love stories rarely are.

They dated once before, but the timing wasn’t right. What’s remarkable is that instead of drifting apart, they became best friends. The kind of friends so close that all of us wondered if they were actually still together.

And then one day, Sam called me. She had a big surprise. She and Luke were together again. I was not surprised.

She asked me, “Why does nobody seem surprised?”

We weren’t surprised because it’s always BEEN Luke.

And now, tonight, the fact that it will always BE Luke — is more clear than ever as we gather to celebrate.

Luke and Sam are very special to me. They are rare individuals.

Luke has a deep strength — a strength of character, of will, and of heart — that I have come to admire and look up to.

And Sam… Sam might be the one person in the world I go to for advice. She has a deep wisdom, singular and pure, built on a foundation of her values and her ethics.

And with Luke’s strength and Sam’s wisdom, they have a steadfast foundation for their marriage.
