Our story begins quite a while ago, dating back to July 1st, 2015. Sami knew Dalton’s twin brother Brody before knowing him, and Dalton knew a friend of Sami’s. On that Canada Day, we all met up in Balgonie and the rest is history. Dalton quickly charmed Sami with his quick wit and ability to make anyone in a room laugh. Sami was skeptical at first. She was moving back to Melville at the end of August and was not sure she should get into a relationship with someone from back home. Dalton did not back down, and Sami truly thinks to this day if he wasn’t as adamant as he was, they would not be where they are today.

Later in July, more specifically July 30th, Dalton asked Sami to be his girlfriend. He asked her at the Sage view golf course on top of hole #7 that overlooks the whole lake. Lake Diefenbaker is where Sage view is located and since then they have spent so many summers tenting, camping, boating, and seadooing at the lake with their friends and family.

The past 8 years have been filled with love, ups and downs, new houses, graduations, new jobs, a new dog, and so many great memories. Although most of our relationship has been spent long distance, it has made us learn how to love in a different way and appreciate each other’s company. Supporting one another throughout our lives has truly made us stronger. We grew up together from the age of 15 and had to learn to how grow with one another.

Dalton can be sentimental and was on May 20th, 2023. In front of our closest friends and family, he proposed to Sami at that same golf course on the same hole. Sami has been waiting for this moment, and most of our family and friends have been as well, but when the time is right you know. Committing to each other for forever is a decision you make not on a whim but because you are ready and want to spend the rest of your life with that person.
