Sam and Nicole’s story began long before their first date. They first met as preschoolers at Aunt Linda’s “Beyond the Rainbow,” where their friendship took root. Over the years they remained close, always orbiting each other’s lives in one way or another. What started as crayons and playgrounds slowly turned into decades of memories, inside jokes, and an unshakable bond.

For years Sam says he was hopelessly in love, while Nicole will tell you with a smile that she mostly found him annoying. Sam often jokes that it took twenty four years of begging before she finally gave him a chance. After years of friendship, their story shifted just before a trip to New York City. Their first official date was a night in Schenectady, with dinner at Zen Asian Fusion Lounge followed by a movie at Movieland Cinema. They saw Last Night in Soho and Sam walked away certain that this was the beginning of the rest of their lives together. For Nicole it was the start of seeing her lifelong friend in a brand new way.

From there their relationship only grew stronger. It has been built not only on the last few years as a couple but on the twenty four years of friendship that came before. Along the way they have traveled and created countless memories together. They explored Spain in 2021, discovered France in 2022, celebrated their engagement in the Finger Lakes in 2024, and adventured in Aruba in 2025.

Sam planned his proposal with care and love. After a day spent visiting wineries, enjoying elegant meals, and wandering through Watkins Glen, he waited until dessert at their Airbnb in the Finger Lakes to ask the question. With peach cobbler on the table and the evening quiet around them, he asked Nicole to marry him.

Their daily life together holds just as much joy as their travels. Nicole loves to clean, while Sam has a way of making it a little harder for her to do it. Sam loves to cook, and Nicole is quick to remind him to take it easy on the butter. Nicole paints with patience and focus, while Sam joins in but usually drifts off after a short while. They call each other Queen and Samwell, a perfect balance of personalities. He is impulsive and she is cautious. Sam brings order and Nicole brings cleanliness, and together they create a space that feels just right.
