I wasn’t exactly sure what the feeling was. It felt a lot like excitement, but also maybe a little fear, some nervousness, a bit of euphoria, perhaps. Maybe it was all of those rolled into one? Is this what serendipity feels like? I’m still not sure to this day. But I do know it was a great feeling. After all, it’s not every day you stumble upon such an important location.

Sandra and I were on our daily walk with Milo when I got that feeling. In the park close to where I live in Atlanta, GA. Enjoying the cool breeze of spring air. Rays of sunlight beaming through the large pine trees ahead of us. Talking about the week ahead. It was around 7pm, or golden hour as some people say. Holding hands. It was a perfect day for a walk with our favorite little "human", Milo. It was the ideal setting for what would become an unforgettable moment in our lives.

So, you might be asking yourself, what exactly am I talking about? I’m talking about the exact location, the exact moment in time when I knew, in my heart, this is where I would propose to Sandra. And where for us, forever begins….

We got home later that evening. Sandra went home, and I had more time to reminisce about this feeling. I discovered something that should have been obvious to me. How did I not see this before? The feelings that I had felt earlier during our walk are the same sort of feelings I get when I look into Sandra’s eyes, when we laugh together, or sit down for a meal we made for one another. It’s the feeling I get when we say to each other “I love you”.

So, I took this epiphany I had on our walk, and I ran with it. It was about three weeks later - on May 30th, In the park, Sunshine beaming through those same pine trees, Spring air blowing Sandra’s hair in front of me - when I did the obvious thing and asked Sandra to be mine forever. And I am JUST lucky enough for her to have said ‘yes’.
