In 2016, Robert and I met through mutual friends our junior year of college at the University of Arkansas. We remained friends throughout our junior year and began dating our senior year. During 2018, we did a year of long distance between Fayetteville and Dallas as I (Sara) finished the rest of the year student teaching. We both began living in Dallas in 2019.

Our relationship continued to grow stronger over the 3.5 years in Dallas together, and in February 2023 Robert and I planned a ski trip with friends in Vail Colorado. We walked to Manor Vail Lodge for their "world famous Espresso Martinis" as Bert refers to them. He seemed especially nervous as we took the most beautiful scenic walk through the edge of town, and I soon found out there weren't any espresso martinis as he dropped down on one knee and asked me to be his wife! Afterwards, we celebrated with friends in Vail Village where we had lunch and shopped followed by a beautiful dinner. We cannot wait for everyone we love to come together to celebrate Robert and I's future together!
