It all started in the fall of 2021 at Biola University, though they didn’t know it at the time. Both of them were music majors—Daniel studying violin and Savannah in commercial music—but their paths didn’t cross for a while. They were also in the Torrey Honors program, but since Daniel was a year below Savannah, they were in different cohorts, so the two worlds rarely overlapped.

They both had one thing in common, though: a mutual friend named Adelee. Daniel knew her from chapel band, and Savannah had taken a few music classes with her. Despite all the overlap, it wasn’t until after Savannah had graduated that things started to fall into place. Adelee had heard from Daniel a few times about how he thought Savannah was cute, but it wasn’t until a month after school ended that Adelee decided to bring it up with Savannah. One night, while they were out together, Adelee casually asked, “What do you think about Daniel?”

At that point, Savannah didn’t think much of him—she’d only heard stories from Adelee. But Adelee shared Daniel’s interest, mentioning that he thought Savannah was cute and suggesting they should go out. Savannah, open to the idea, agreed to reach out, and soon enough, they were texting back and forth. Even though Daniel was in New Zealand at the time, they connected quickly and decided to meet up as soon as he was back.

When their first date finally came around, their connection was immediate and they couldn’t wait for their next date. However, they couldn’t see each other again for another month due to travel plans. But in that time, they talked every single day. By the time their second date rolled around, it was clear: they were meant to be together. On that second date, Daniel asked Savannah to be his girlfriend, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Unbeknownst to either of them, they had been living so close for so long. Adelee lived in the apartment directly above Savannah’s, and Daniel would often hang out with friends right above her—both of them totally unaware that we were so close to the person they would eventually marry.

Looking back, they both can’t help but be amazed at how perfectly everything lined up. They are so grateful for the timing of their relationship and for the way God brought them together. Every moment of their story feels like a beautiful reminder that love, timing, and a little help from friends can create something truly special.
