Our Journey Unfolds
The magic of our love story began on a chilly night on December 30, 2019, when laughter and joy filled the air at my familys New Years Eve party. Little did I know, fate had a plan woven into the fabric of that night. Safi’s sister, Sudi, a friend of my mom, innocently inquired about potential matches for her brother. In a playful jest, I threw my hat into the ring, claiming, I am! Little did I know that this lighthearted comment would set the stage for a love story beyond my wildest dreams.
Sudi, taking my words to heart, wasted no time and sent my pictures and videos to her brother that very night. The next day, she sent Safis Instagram with me. At first glance, I must admit, I was not captivated. His long hair, the public profile, and the images of him immersed in hookah smoke suggested a lifestyle that seemed incompatible with mine. I considered it a pass.
However, destiny had other plans for us. On New Years Day, as the clock ticked closer to midnight, a fleeting curiosity led me back to Safis Instagram. Two images caught my eye—a striking picture of him in short hair and a white suit, exuding a charm I hadnt noticed before, and a heartfelt photo with a young boy captioned my nephew. Something about the latter image felt authentic and kindled a spark of interest within me. Before the stroke of midnight, I mustered the courage to send him a message. Salam, I typed, opening the door to a world of possibilities.
Half an hour later, Safi responded, and the pages of our story turned to a new chapter. He confessed that he had intended to message me when his sister shared my Instagram with him but hesitated, nervous about my response. As we delved into conversations about life and our principles, hours passed like mere minutes. Nine days later, we found ourselves on our first date, and in that moment, Safi and I sensed that our story was destined to be everlasting.
March of 2020 was supposed to mark the day Safi and his family would formally seek my hand in marriage. However, Allah (SWT) had different plans, and the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic posed unexpected challenges to our love story. Undeterred, we weathered the storm, and in September 2020, we joyously celebrated our engagement. Eight months later, with unwavering determination, we embraced the sacred bond of Nikkah.
Every love story is unique, but ours holds a special place in my heart. It weathered the storms of a global pandemic and emerged victorious. Our journey has been a rollercoaster of emotions, but looking back, every twist and turn was undeniably worth the ride.
Safi and I share a cherished insider, a secret language that transcends spoken words—the number 14. According to my brother Acho, it represents an infinite love, and for us, it signifies the depth of our affection. Fourteen is not just a number; its a promise of forever. As we stand on the precipice of our wedding day, four years after our serendipitous meeting, I cant help but marvel at the beautiful tapestry of our love story—a story that triumphed over adversity and blossomed into a love that is truly timeless.
