Some love stories start with a swipe… ours started with sirens. We met at our volunteer fire station in Briar Oaks, Texas—just two people trying to help out and accidentally falling for each other in the process.

From day one, I (Taylor) told him it was totally cheating to win over the single mom by giving my boys extra long tours of the fire trucks and the fire station. He swears it was all in the name of public service… I still have my doubts.

Our first date was at a local dive bar, and it went so well that we didn’t want the night to end. So Preston came along while I took my boys to play arcade games. Watching him try to impress them with snacks and silly games? That’s when I knew he was something special.

Even his famously judgmental dog liked me right away—which is basically the highest praise you can get in his household. From there, life took off. Preston earned his Texas firefighter and EMT certifications, I became a paramedic, and we bought our first home in March 2025.

Then came the proposal: a helicopter ride over downtown Fort Worth, and a question I’ll never forget. I said yes (after making sure he didn’t drop the ring mid-flight).

Now, we’re gearing up for our next big adventure—marriage—and we can’t wait to celebrate with the people who’ve been part of our story from the start.
