When should I arrive in Jackson,MS?
With the ceremony being early in the morning and celebratory dinner later in the evening on May the 2nd, it is highly suggested that guest are in Jackson from Thursday, May 1st- Saturday, May 3rd.
What time should I arrive at graduation?
Please arrive at 6:30 a.m. when the doors open. Commencement begins at 9 a.m., but if the venue is filled before then, doors will close.
What should we wear?
Dr. Dorlus requests that all her commencement guests wear All-white attire.
Is this an indoor or outdoor event?
The doctoral hooding and commencement ceremony will take place inside the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center on JSU's campus.
Is there parking available?

Are we allowed to bring flowers, signs and balloons inside of the ceremony?
Yes, they are permitted, but cannot block the view of other guests. No Umbrellas and No Airhorns.
How many people can I bring to graduation?
There is no limit on the number of guests that graduates can bring. It is highly suggested that guests arrive at 6:30 a.m. when venue doors open.
Will the ceremony be live streamed or recorded?
Yes, the link for watching the graduation live will be added to the website once it becomes available.
What should I get the graduate?
Dr. Dorlus is appreciative of all contributions to her doctoral celebration. You can find her registry on the Gift Tab. All monetary contributions can be sent via the cash fund or directly to the graduate via her apple pay or zelle. (773-301-4071)
Is there a celebration after graduation?
Yes! There will be celebratory dinner for the graduate beginning at 5pm. All RSVP’d guests will received the location of the dinner.
Is there a dress code for dinner?
No. The graduate only asks that all white is worn to her commencement ceremony in the morning.
What should I bring to the dinner?
Feel free to bring any gifts, flowers, balloons, special beverages or treats for the graduate. All are welcome.
