For years, Dan and Theresa orbited the same solar system, but neither knew anything about the other outside of a name. When the stars finally aligned (and with a little matchmaking from a mutual friend) a message on Instagram launched the two into a whirlwind of love.
The two would exchange messages for a few weeks, discussing everything under the sun, before finally deciding to meet in person. Dan was adamant about treating Theresa to dinner. She agreed, but insisted the two also visit Dough Nation to check out their COVID-19 themed dessert. She had to get the foodie content!
Dan and Theresa hit it off immediately. They each felt comfortable expressing their true feelings and opinions about any topic. It was a great first date that lasted for hours. Dan was a perfect gentleman who opened Theresa’s car door and offered to take her out again. Theresa was appreciative and also felt guilty that she caused them both to receive parking tickets in Ybor.
Over the next couple of weeks, Dan and Theresa enjoyed a picnic on Davis Island, an Italian dinner at Pia’s, and tacos at Red Mesa. With every date, they each felt closer and closer to the other. It wasn’t until Super Bowl Sunday that they would make things official. After an epic Bucs win, Dan asked Theresa to be his girlfriend.
Once they were 'official,' Dan and Theresa started spending a lot of time together and quickly realized they loved a lot of the same things. Eating, drinking, traveling, watching sports...debate. The two had many adventures together over the next couple of years, including cruising to the Bahamas, visiting springs around Florida, walking around the Big Apple, and more.
The two celebrated many milestones together, including Dan’s graduation from law school. Their families got to know each other and it seemed like there was always a reason to celebrate. It wasn’t until their first big trip together in August of 2023 that they would celebrate their biggest milestone yet…
After taking the bar exam, Dan set off on the adventure of a lifetime, spending a whole month exploring the Azore islands. Theresa met up with Dan in Lisbon to start their trip together. A few days into the trip, Dan and Theresa explored Porto and enjoyed a port wine tasting tour in the Sandman caves. When they were walking to dinner, Dan showed Theresa a special spot where they had the perfect view of the water and famous Dom Luis I bridge. Here, he explained why he loved this spot and how picturesque it was. Theresa took some photos and videos (per usual) and reminded Dan that they were running late for their dinner reservation. Little did she know, there was no dinner reservation.
As the couple turned to walk away, Theresa jokingly said to Dan, "There's not a ring-sized box in your pocket, is there?" As she walked away laughing, Dan took her hand and got down on one knee (awww!)
"Theresa Rosario Lopez, will you marry me?"
Stunned, Theresa said, "Are you serious?!" about 10 times before finally saying yes and accepting his proposal.
It was the most romantic gesture!
The couple walked all around Porto, taking photos together in celebration of their engagement.
They ended their day at a Michelin-star restaurant and spent most of dinner FaceTiming friends and family. It was the most special day.
