It was June, 5th of 2021 and the world was just waking up again. Eric (aka Wolfgang) was living in Denver and Vanessa was in town visiting her niece. An improv theater was opening back up for a community night. Our mutual friend KP introduced us saying, "I know someone else who is 44 and I think you should meet." We are both shorties, both born in '76, both teach and perform improv, both cuties and we had a spark. Only thing...Vanessa lived in San Diego

How we met

We had a meet-cute on August 16, 2021 at the Milwaukee airport when Eric was home and Vanessa was visiting a friend. And... Our first date was October 22, 2021 - ice cream and Ghost Busters were involved. Which led to another date the next day - a corn maze. Vanessa extended her stay and we met up at the Ship Tavern for dinner. All in all, 4 dates in 4 days! (I'd say it went pretty well).

We went back and forth from Colorado to California and vice versa. We had a great time.

After dating long distance for over a year. Vanessa moved to Denver in April of 2023.

We got engaged in Positano, Italy on May 9th, 2024 at the top of the town in a quiet piazza overlooking the Mediterranean.

Our wedding will be in Wisconsin, so if you are traveling, here is what you should know: Flights: MKE - Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (or Chicago - 90 miles) Rental Car: You will want to rent a car to travel out to East Troy, WI. (Ubers don't typically travel that far and they are hard to find in the East Troy area). Travel Time: It's about 45 minutes from the airport to East Troy, Wisconsin. Lodging: The easiest option is the hotel at Alpine Valley Resort (yes, the famous concert venue and ski hill).

Beulah Bog State Natural Area - A childhood favorite of Eric's, this short hike takes you to boardwalks in a <a href="https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/statenaturalareas/BeulahBog" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">bog</a> surrounded by tamarack trees. Medium hike. LaGrange, WI - A 20 min drive down Hwy 12 will take you to mountain biking and <a href="https://maps.app.goo.gl/wG4MA5xwLfAexMhq5" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">hiking trails</a>. Turn north on Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive to find the Ice Age Trail. Hard to Medium hike. Paradise Springs Nature Area - A short drive through the woods near Eagle will bring you to the ruins of a natural <a href="https://wisconsin-explorer.blogspot.com/2016/07/exploring-paradise-springs.html" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">spring</a>. Easy walk around the loop path.

Famous for their apple pie baked in a paper bag, it really is all that. Shop their farm fresh snacks and treats. Apple Barn Orchard &amp; Winery - Apple picking will be in season at this Elkhorn Farm near Alpine Valley. Pay a visit to the Country Store &amp; Bakery.
