Hello y'all! Sit down and grab a cup of coffee because I got a story for y'all.
One day, after watching my third romantic comedy together, I realized that I wanted to live my own romantic adventure. Thus, I elected to download Bumble, just praying that I did not have to endure too many conversations regarding my favorite color. I filled out my information, and I made sure to even tell the truth about my height (maybe smudge the number slightly). As I tried to figure out what my caption should read, I knew I had to steal something off Google or Instagram in order to sound witty. So, like any mature adult would do, I asked a question about a 2006 animated movie: "In the movie Cars, do the cars have life-insurance or car insurance?"
As I waited what felt like years, even though it was a couple days, I matched with a 23-year-old recruiter named Whitney, who I thought was way out of my league, and I was right. After waiting 23 HOURS for a response, I knew I could not let this woman walk out of my life quite yet. So, I extended the match, just for her to respond within the next two hours. I will skip the recap of the messages as it was just me telling dad jokes after dad jokes. Eventually, she thought I was funny enough to want to go on a date, so we decided to get dinner on a Friday at Blue Sushi.
As the week gone by, I got too antsy for the date and did not want to wait for Friday. So, I asked if she wanted to get drinks that night, and she agreed. I wonder now if she already knew what she was wearing for a date, so she did not need to worry about what to wear.
After she gave me her address, even the apartment number, trusting I was not a serial killer, I walked to her door and knocked. As the door opened, the most beautiful woman opened the door, and, I knew I was hooked ever since. Every time she made a weird joke, or wore an embarrassing hot dog hat, I knew I was in love.
We have went through hospital visits, dog injuries, and self-insecurities, but we have walked out of each event stronger than ever. It all culminated to me proposing to her in her ideal engagement outfit: sweatpants and a golf hat. And, it was in the most romantic location ever: her apartment living room.
Whitney and I are delighted you have read the story of how we met, and we are excited to create the rest of our story. If you have made it this far in the story, I urge you to ask yourself this question: "In the movie Cars, do cars have life-insurance or car insurance?"
