A Nature-Inspired Garden Party Wedding at The Farmer’s Daughter in South Kingstown, Rhode Island
After getting engaged on a hike in Greece, Fatima and Brett took inspiration from nature when planning their South County wedding. They collected flowers from their neighborhood, pressed them and included them as inserts in their invitations. “Each one was a little different and added a personal touch,” Fatima says. Abundant late-summer blooms and escort cards made of plantable seed paper carried the fresh garden party theme throughout the day. Zinnias, marigolds, dahlias, cockscombs, geraniums and mint decorated the tabletops. “It was important for us to incorporate Pakistani-inspired food as a nod to my culture,” Fatima says.
The wedding weekend kicked off with a traditional mehndi party, where guests could have henna applied. Fatima wore an embroidered lehenga made by a family friend in Pakistan. The couple dished out Eastern nibbles during cocktail hour, like samosas and mini chicken seekh kebabs with curried yogurt dip, then served up classic French cuisine for dinner. Fatima and Brett gave guests woven fans handmade by a friend in Pakistan. A vintage Piaggio Ape poured drafts of Whalers Brewing Company pale ale. The couple served honey lavender, strawberry mint and vanilla jasmine cupcakes.
