Grayson and Catherine first met during their freshman year of high school. Catherine first viewed Grayson as the shy and awkward kid while Grayson thought Catherine didn't know how to shut up. Despite their perceived quirks, it didn't take long for them to develop crushes on each other. Their high school fling was short lived as, tragically for Grayson, Catherine decided it was best for them to go their separate ways.

Years later, Catherine was a freshman at Baylor University. She quickly discovered that Grayson also attended Baylor after they spotted each other in the dining hall. Grayson awkwardly walked over to say hi and gave her an even more awkward side hug which really helped remind her of his high school personality. Their mutual passion for running initiated their reconnection as friends once Catherine invited Grayson to run club. She originally thought he would run with her, but instead he took off with the guys leaving her to get lost in the woods. Their friendship formed new friend groups and new opportunities to show each other who they really were. Catherine discovered that Grayson wasn't so shy after a long process of bringing him out of his shell. She noticed little things like his humor, intellect, spontaneity, and genuineness. She admired the fact that Grayson had goals, knew exactly what/where he wanted to be, and always had a plan on how to get there. Most importantly, she saw the way he loved and treated his family, friends, and everyone around him. Grayson simultaneously admired Catherine's values, happiness, and selflessness. He saw the positive effect her presence had on other people and how everyone he introduced her to had nothing but remarkable things to say about her. Most importantly, he noticed her love for Christ which was reminiscent through her actions, words, and heart.

When Catherine realized her feelings for Grayson returned, she decided to tell him and asked if he had feelings too. In a touching moment, Grayson romantically replied "No". It took a week for Grayson's stubbornness to subside and he eventually admitted his feelings for her too. Their connection grew stronger, and on July 18, 2022, they officially started dating.

Nearly two years later, Catherine graduated college early and secured a full time job. Meanwhile, Grayson had just been accepted to dental school. Their lives were proceeding exactly as planned, but Grayson knew the final and most important piece of his plan was still missing. After having a nerve-racking, but successful lunch with Mr. Pullin, Grayson proposed to Catherine on May 9, 2024. What began as a spontaneous trip to a vineyard turned into the beginning of a lifelong adventure.
