Maybe you live here, maybe you're returning, or maybe you're a first timer! We hope you have enough time while you're in town to visit loved places or sight see for the first time. It seems like so much but we just listed a few things to check off your list. Some things not mentioned are all the plantations around, museums, historical landmarks, and restaurants. Feel free to reach out for any recommendations!
Castaway with us is located at Crosby's right as you're coming on to Folly. All the staff is fantastic and there is something for everyone here! Castaway offers guided kayak tours, dolphin sighting boat tours, or charters out to Morris Island lighthouse for a fossil hunt where some of the largest shark's teeth are found!
Save your appetite and check out the Crosby food truck, located in the same parking lot, for the best local seafood around!
This is a great option if a whole group wanted to reserve the boat and go together, although if you're venturing out in smaller groups or going solo, there are open charters that you can join and meet new friends. We suggest booking in advanced if it's on your to do list!
Captain Richard Brendel at Flipper Finders is another great option for kayak and boat tours.
Take a ferry out to Fort Sumter and walk around the fort for a Charleston history lesson
The USS YORKTOWN was the tenth aircraft carrier to serve in the United States Navy. A ticketed entry will let you roam all through the depths of the ship. Steep stairs and small spaces in areas, but worth it!
If you're looking for some time on the green while you're in Charleston, Patriots Point is one of the well balanced options. Great location, not too far out like some of the others.
Other golfing options:
Kiawah: https://kiawahresort.com/golf/
Tour beautiful downtown Charleston on a very informative carriage ride
Angel Oak: a beautiful Charleston landmark located on John's Island
The Beach! We have a few around: Folly Beach (the surfer's beach), Sullivans Island (the quiet peaceful beach)
Ravenel Bridge: Walk over the impressive Ravenel Bridge. It's best to park at the gas station on the Mount Pleasant side. Keep a look out over the edge... you might see dolphins and cargo ships!
Melton Peter Demetre Park: A hidden gem on James Island! A little beach park that looks across the water to downtown. If you feel frisky enough, we suggest going at sunrise. The park's nickname is Sunrise Park and they don't disappoint.
Charleston Battery, Rainbow Row, and White Point Garden: A downtown walk that has all the Charleston pastel homes and scenery.
Hampton Park: Another favorite! We love a quick run or picnic here. It's so beautiful any time of the year, mostly just an open lawn area with a geese pond and the cutest walking trails.
