Like many great romances, ours began as an unexpected friendship. Back in college, we were just two friends... Gerber was in the same fraternity as some of Aaliyah's best friends so she spent a lot of time at those parties. For her, those parties had a special allure—I’d go just to see him. Gerber had a way of lighting up a room with those muscles which drove Aaliyah crazy but she knew that they could only be friends. We spent countless evenings with our mutual friend JT, who was the perfect movie-going companion. The three of us would hit the theater for the latest blockbusters, sharing laughs, popcorn, and endless inside jokes. One evening, though, JT wasn’t feeling well, and we decided to go without him. That night felt different—more personal, more special—but we brushed it off. After all, we were just friends.That summer, we discovered something surprising: we lived closer to each other than we realized. Our proximity became the perfect excuse to hang out more often, and since we both loved scary movies, they became our go-to. With each film, we grew closer, until our “just friends” movie nights began to feel like something more. By the time fall rolled around, our friendship had blossomed into a relationship.Dating brought so many adventures. One of our favorite escapes was Six Flags, where we’d spend hours screaming on roller coasters and indulging in theme park snacks. It was in those carefree moments that our bond deepened. We officially began dating in the fall of 2019, and it felt like the start of something incredible.When the world shut down in 2020, we had each other. COVID brought challenges, but it also gave us time to grow even closer. Our movie nights transitioned to parks, where we’d set up cozy blankets under the stars, sharing stories and dreaming about the future.In June 2024, Gerber started a new job and officially joined the Jordan household. It was a big step, but it felt natural—like the next chapter in our journey. Just a few months later, on October 23, 2024, we moved into our first apartment together. The excitement of building a home as a couple was unforgettable, but little did Aaliyah know an even bigger surprise was coming. Four days later, on October 27, Gerber asked Aaliyah to be his wife.Now, as we plan our wedding and dream about the life we’ll build together, we can’t help but reflect on how far we’ve come. From college friends to life partners, our story is one of friendship, love, and endless adventure. We’re so excited to share this new chapter with all of you.
