In 2016, Aaron and Catherine met for the first time as workers at The Loras All Sports Camp. However, they wouldn't really talk until the end of the summer when they got to spend time at ChancesR, which some have called the Taj Mahal of bars. They would get to know each other and started to fall for each other during their week at Monmouth All Sports Camp...until things fizzled during the school year.

The following year at camp (and thanks to some encouragement from the boys administrative staff), they would hit it off again, and this time started officially dating shortly after camp was over.

The school year definitely brought along its own complications. Catherine and Aaron would have to work through a long distance relationship between De Pere, WI and Dubuque, IA. Distance couldn't keep them apart (if you don't think about the fact that 90% of the time, it did actually keep them apart).

Catherine graduated college and decided that the trip from De Pere to Dubuque was too easy. She moved to Washington, DC to start at Georgetown Law School while Aaron remained in Dubuque to continue teaching at Wahlert Catholic High School. Airline points became more important as their trips became bigger. Like the distance between them, their love continued to grow.

DUM DUM DUM! The COVID-19 pandemic entered our lives and has been around ever since. Despite all the negatives and challenges facing the world, the one positive that came out of it was that Catherine and Aaron could finally be together. From the end of 2020 until the start of the 21-22 school year, they were finally in the same city longer than 3 days at a time. Ironically, while the world was social distancing, they were closer than they'd ever been.

Like many others during the pandemic, 2020 also brought them...a puppy, SADIE! Their Alaskan Klee Kai was a 2 pound floof found in Iowa with a curly tail and a ton of love.

Aaron FINALLY popped the question! After almost 4 years of dating, they were engaged :) Aaron asked Catherine to marry him at the Loras Chapel as a reminder of where they met and what was important to them. Afterwards, they were able to celebrate with their families. Catherine left for DC for one more year of long distance, both officially knowing that they'd soon be together forever.
